But it completely messes up the gymnasts who have works there entire life in order to peak exactly for 2020! Many of these gymnasts will now be past their peak. This isn’t a good thing, for many it’s ruined their Olympic Dream. Heck we don’t even know if Simone Biles (the best gymnast in the world) will be able to hold on another year!!

My heart breaks for them... but maybe this extra time will make them even stronger. The world is rooting for everyone!! side note... I really hope that they change the rules back to where gymnasts had to be of age in 2020 and not 2021 .... because it's not only EXTREMELY UNFAIR for the gymnasts who were on their way to the Olympics.... but it's not fair to the juniors who were already on their own timeline for the 2024 games... I think its playing with fire and pushing the juniors too hard... too fast will lead to not just burn out.... but they could get seriously injured trying in the process... Not only that but they are completely inexperienced on the international stage... I really hope that the people in charge of the national programs for ALL COUNTRIES... keep the age limit to that of what it would have been had they competed this August... and while I know some would be mad at this... but if they instead focus the juniors on competing at the World Championships... the seniors who competed at the Olympics can retire and pass the torch to the next generation of amazing gymnasts.

FIG sets the eligibility, and you must be 16 the year of the Olympics to be a senior-level gymnast.

Jojo there are a lot of gymnasts that will probably retire after the olympics and have been waiting for this opportunity forever, and the 2021 seniors are just getting started. MyKayla Skinner has a KZbin channel and she posted a video with Suni and Riley talking about why they wish the age eligibility would change

@Khelisie Salvatore It's gonna go back to 5. Honestly, the 4 per team rule is just stupid, and I personally think that those who do not turn 16 in 2020 should not be allowed to compete. It's supposed to the 2020 Olympic games, and it's just unfair for those who are eligible to have worked so hard, only to have even more competition which would not have happened in any other Olympics. It's nothing against those who are born in 2005, it's just unfair to make this one exception when it wouldn't have happened at any other games

@@mht4908 I totally agree with you. Not only it is unfair but it's also dangerous in my opinion. Gymnasts born in 2005 have been pacing themselves to peak in 2024. To change that now means higher risks of injuries and early career end for a very small chance to be selected given that the competition to get a place in the Olympic is already very fierce.
