Capital Punishment is and always has been a bad idea. Time after time we find that seemingly clear convictions turn out to be wrong. You can release a wrongly convicted person, compensate them for time in prison, you cannot if you have executed them. What is needed is a complete ban on the death penalty, it should not matter whether it is a federal crime or a state crime, the death penalty is wrong.

If you can't guarantee that the Death Penalty is free from racial, ethnic and/or cultural/economic bias then you should NOT APPLY such a final sentence. Is it any wonder that the post death penalty appeals system is so long and fraught with problems that it is inhuman to keep a person on Death Row for so long before the criminal runs out of road. I am not against the Death Penalty, I am for it's application only after EXHAUSTIVE investigation, and a scrupulously fair trial and conviction. And only ONE appeal, not the litany so many jump through today. But if there is the scintilla of doubt, as to due process, the feintest trace of bias, a hint of possible innocence then conviction let alone a penalty of death should NEVER be imposed.
