Met her in a concert, thought she was a good girl after dating her for a few years, I get her pregnant, she doesn't want to marry because she doesn't want to change her last name to mine (it's a tradition and an offense if you don't where I'm from) and well, now with the kid she's thinking about leaving, everything falling apart, shit's not looking good. Every week there's a new fight over the same stuff and she's not the type to solve issues she's the type to resent everything and act like nothing is wrong a few days later only to be faking it and again another problem. I think she's a covert narcissist... God, this is painful.

When my husband took me out for the first time, he mentioned liking to skeet shoot! And rifle shoot! I mentioned to him that I skeet shoot as well. Well the next date was at a range! My dad told me to do him proud and show him how's it done! My husband probably said to himself she's the one!!!! 35 yrs later and we still are very much in love and I still shoot extremely well!

Cool story. I knew the girl I met in class was to be my wife the minute I laid eyes on her. I felt it without a doubt. The hardest thing I had to do was wait 3 years until she was ready for it. 8 years difference, I was 29 at the wedding. This year [God willing] we will have 50 years of growing alongside each other ... Yes, I will be 80 a couple of months after our anniversary.

I met my wife 5 months after discharge. I wasn’t a SEAL but I had just spent 3 years at the Amphibious Base in Coronado working with them and my head was in a bad place. No doubt, God put her in my life and it gave me a reason to pull my head out. We went for a walk and had a talk. She started checking things off on a checklist that I never knew I had. Almost 43 years together, still married after my family gave us 6 months. God knows what He’s doing!

I love these kinds of “how we met stories “. Finished my 1967-1971 active duty tour. Went home after my second WESTPAC deployment from VietNam. Enrolled at our local college on the GI Bill. Saw/met my “Dream Girl” at the student union. Got married in college. Still married at 49 years, 4 adult kids and 9 grandchildren and it’s still a blessing.

I was in the exact same head space when I first met my loving wife. After having my heart “broken” a couple times prior, I wasn’t hesitant to start another serious relationship. We were friends for a couple years. Then, as soon as it was clear we both had feeling for another, we both dove in head first. That was around July of 2000 and I can’t imagine my life if she wasn’t in it as my wife. It certainly wasn’t always easy, quite the contrary in fact. The best in life never is. There were even times I wanted to throw in the towel, god forbid. Today, I’ve never been happier and more fulfilled in my life and I owe my joy to her. Don’t give up, “the one” is out there and the hardest part isn’t even finding them; it’s being able to confront your unfortunate qualities, learn from them and then change or lose them in order to be the best person human being you can be. Funny, I was the one who went back and told my roommates that she was the one, after our first date. She was thinking more along the lines of "I've just got to make it to the third date and his ass is in my bed". 8 years of marriage, and a kid later, I was right (well, so was she). Didnt meet her on a gun range but we grew up together in South Florida(Bradenton, Sarasota) and i had just got clean and my wife excepted me for who i was. Well done guys! Navy veteran here just celebrated 37 years of marriage . Wouldn't change a thing, would do it all over again. Thanks for your service Shawn, and everything you do for us. When I first laid eyes on my wife I was 22 and partying at the house next door and I told my best friend I'll Marry That Girl within a year, this was before I had ever spoken a word to her and we were married just about a year from that point❤

Awesome brother... it is not only ironic, it's very telling. Alot of us were in the same place... and that in the same way, we all had that encounter through the association of good friends. That reckoning that we all go through, thank God, when you know that this wonderful person is everything that you had always hoped that you would meet, but were not actively seeking... is just that... " YOUR RECKONING "! That wonderfully, becomes the key to a " full tilt " guy, having every single facet of his life working out... and for some of us, actually saving our lives. Having a truly invested, honest, down to earth good woman, confident in her feelings, loving us... is a priceless blessing. That was a very cool how you met story I loved hearing about it. When I first saw my wife I new that second I was going to marry her and it’s been 13 years still going strong.
