Dazzler had a terrific original storyline. That's the stuff to collect and read. Clairmont put her story on ice for years, then used her return to X-Men to introduce Strong Guy(!?).

Finally bought a Hulk 180...paid $440 CDN for a CGC 3.0 with new staples. I am happy with that. Less than $500 is what I was waiting for. There are oodles of 1st Deadpools out there..anyone who pays more than $300 for a 9.8 is foolish imo. That 1st Wolverine ltd series #1 is almost as common, lots of 9.8 and other high grades out there. My own copy is a 9.6 or maybe 9.8 contender but Im not bothering to grade it. If it ever came back a 9.8 and i could get thousands for it I will sell in a heartbeat. Ist app of Iron Fist is one to grab now while it is cheap. I am planning on getting a 2nd copy. But be prepared to sit on it for a good long time. Be careful spending your money right now !

Yeah, but, that does not mean all those 9.8 Wolverine 1s are in the market. How many collectors are holding on to them for the long-run because they are collectors and not flippers? What you said makes sense if all graded copies immediately go into market circulation, but that's not how this hobby works. The trend to watch is the % change of 9.8s hitting the market, not the number of new 9.8s being slabbed. Also, demand could increase as Wolverine is next to Spiderman Marvel's most prolific and profitable character, and most importantly most "well known" and we're going to see Wolverine movies, forever that will continue to broaden market exposure. So, I'm not so certain I agree with your analysis based solely on the supply side.

The amount of sales is what ranks the books on the list, Wolverine 1 is indeed selling in much higher quantities as supply goes up. Good point to make, we can start counting the numbers to provide evidence of the correlation for sure.

The X-men book always triggers me. Plenty of undisputed 1st appearances with less of the character in than the annual. Even key collector lists that as 1st. I've always felt CGC got it wrong initially and they can't walk it back with so many graded comics issued as 1st.

I know this has been said to death, but the only reason there is even a debate about gambits first appearance, is because of a quirk in the release schedule that put X-men annual 14 on the shelves first. 266 is canonically his first appearance. Dats da truff Mon Ami

Gentlemen....the price gauging of graded books is pushing up the raw market. There are plenty of wolverine and deadpools that change hands on places other than ebay. People are waking up and realizing there are other places to get these books being pushed by......scalpers.

Wolverine is an A-List Marvel character, among the very few who can maintain solo or top superhero team (X-Men) in both comics and in movies. He's going to be an A-list character in the MCU for generations to come. Iron Fist is more like a C-List character that hardly anyone cares about, just another martial arts fighter, like Shang-Chi. There is no comparison. Think about this... by the latest numbers, there are 13,773 9.4 or higher. Let's say there are 500k at least casual comic book collectors. Only 2.7% of them will have a Wolverine #1 in 9.4 or higher, if people only had one each, and you know that's not the case - so it's under 2 in 100. How many in Newsstand? What will happen once CGC starts distinguishing those? X-Men movies are going to come back, Wolverine will be recast, and the next era will carry on. I'm not selling mine. No way Jose.

If a character appeared, for the first time, in a comic book then it's a first appearance. No such thing as a "cameo" appearance. 'Nuff said

I fully agree. Unfortunately, it's a second market manipulation tactic. A first appearance can be considered a true first appearance for years or even decades. Then Overstreet decides that the second appearance is the first, and the first is a cameo. Overstreet still has influence, even in modern times. I've dealt with this for decades. It's a racket that will be around as long as comics are printed. I learned years ago, buy the first two appearances jic
