It's Not PIZZA. It's Not FLATBREAD. It's FLAMMKUCHEN! - 3 Recipes For Your Next Naughty Party!

If you're a bit bored of Pizza or you're having a party where people like to share things, you should definitely give this Flammkuchen or Tarte Flambée a try. No complicated techniques required as the base dough is very simple and the toppings couldn't be easier. This dish is from the Alsace region originally but don't take an Alsatian to a naughty party or you might not be allowed in.
Flammkuchen/Tarte Flambée full recipe:
Dough base recipe:
600g bread flour or all purpose
2 tsps salt
1 tsp sugar
300ml warm water
60g or 6 tbsps liquid oil
Flammkuchen toppings:
125-150g Créme Fraiche per tart
Pinch salt
Generous pinch of pepper
A pinch of nutmeg
Around 1 medium onion
Around 125g of trimmed bacon lard ons
Dried parsley or fresh chives

We had these in France (Riquewihr), nice little earner for the restaurants because you need three to fill you up. I can recommend Riquewihr though, touristy as hell, but nice none the less.

You could try shaving foam in place of creme fraiche and toe nail clippings for onions. I do this if I'm skint and everyone goes mad for it

@@TheTeessideChef So-called "cooking bacon" (as opposed to what? Wallpapering bacon? Tobogganing bacon? Who knows?!+9 is available from all supermarkets for about £1 for 500g. It's offcuts of bacon and gammon, so it needs to be trimmed of rind etc but it's perfect for pease pudding, lentil and bacon soup and such like. A real money saver. And hearts are very cheap and great in slow cooker recipes.
