Calling intermarriage a "silent Holocaust" is offensive and ridiculous. I understand fully why intermarriage is a problem for traditional Judaism, but the Holocaust was horrible primarily because human beings DIED. My family has been affected by both the Holocaust and intermarriage and the people involved wouldn't put those 2 things in the same sentence.

I married a Non-Jew and my father isn’t Jewish. I went to a Chabad Yeshiva in Queens and then moved to Long island and went to a yeshiva highschool till 10th grade. Then public school… Judaism and my connection to Hashem helped me get through some of the toughest times in my life. I have 3 sons… it’s like my soul is missing its counterpart. It’s definitely an ache I can’t explain. I’m Jewish but my husband will tell my sons they are 1/4 Jewish. It’s a source of contention. I cannot let Judaism die out. On another level it makes sense because Jewish people are here to shed light onto the nations. And if we keep intermarrying, Judaism is at risk. And the Jewish People by definition will diminish. My husband is all about the aliens. Gd help me.

I learned to know Hashem and I’m converted to Noachism in 2009. It is not easy not longer be a Catholic as my family is and being considered an outsider, but also not being a Jew, and therefore not belonging to a Jewish community. Once a week my also not Jewish husband and I travel a few hours to meet some other Noahides. They all left Christianity and most of them want to become Jewish but sadly the rabbis in our country don’t want to help to convert. It separates the emotional element that some people attach to conversion. No other religions are like this. I did convert for love. Love of Hashem. I only wanted an orthodox conversion. Berel 🙏 I have such respect for you. I have friends that are Orthodox. I have studied Torah since I was a child you cannot get Torah pass me.. this is not what was intended by Hashem... It says in Torah Genesis 23:4 you will love the stranger For You were strangers in Egypt we have Ethiopian Jews who are straight from the bloodline of Solomon right now sitting and begging to walk in to their Homeland and denied citizenship. If someone is living as a Jew, praying as a Jew, embracing Hashem, recognizing Shabbat they are Jews.. all these little legal games are political.. I feel they are wrong. Many Jews have been in diaspora and are Jews by Halacha Law through their blood through their mother and when they found out that they were Jewish they have been turned away.. I can give you an example of the Russian Jews.. even when they have embraced Judaism again.. they were forced to convert.. I will give you another example the Spanish Jews they are Jewish by blood and they are turned away.. in 2010 there was a convention where the chabad the reform and the conservative agreed that you were a Jew because you said you were a Jew.. because everyone began leaving Judaism.. and still we continue with these political games.. why are we treating each other so bad? When when will we turn our hearts to each other and embrace each other.? You asked when the Mashiac will return? When we we can have compassion on each other

Apart from that you have to trust that God is doing that and to get out of the way. At times it may look like that things are getting derailed but then you need to trust that God will part the sea and will make a way that will lead to dry land. Isn't that the whole story of Moses leading in the wilderness? All the obstacles were impossible situations but God provided and guided through impossible situations. Agree with the Rabbi that this is a symptom of not understanding either spiritual destiny or marriage. Marriage is more than attraction (which is what many people are calling love). People no longer know what marriage is or what community is or what it means to be a part of something larger and beyond their individual selves and short-term desires. Marriage is a powerful commitment and should not be undertaken without all facets being considered, including spiritual/religious compatibility and alignment.

To be clear: Orthodoxy ONLY has a say on orthodoxy. When they say: 'Reform aren't real Jews', all that means is 'Reform aren't orthodox Jews'. The state of Israel will accept your reform conversion happily. In fact, if you live in Europe, a reform conversion will get your paperwork for Aliyah way faster than an orthodox one. The latter requires extra hurdles. Also, if you consciously choose for reform, why do you care if Orthodoxy doesn't accept you? Of course, it needs to be said that you can't ever get married in the state of Israel, because orthodoxy holds all power in religious matters. However, take a short trip to Cyprus - which is close by - get married there and then just inscribe the marriage in Israel. Fully accepted. Problem solved. You can live a life close to HaShem, keeping all the mitzvot and be Jewish in reform, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. There are many things in Torah that orthodoxy chooses to ignore or interpret differently through Halachah so that they can bypass it. Take the wayward son, for example. Both reform and orthodoxy don't actually stone anyone. Why not? It's in the Torah isn't it? BECAUSE we choose to interpret it differently or give preference to values that are more important in Judaism. There are two million reform Jews in the world, and yes, we are Jewish. We haven't altered ONE word in the Torah, we just do the exact same thing you do: we interpret the Torah. By the way: why does orthodoxy hold Bat Mitzvas? You copied it from reform! Why is English being spoken in some parts of the services? Again, reform! There are so many things that you copied from reform! But at the same time, you have the audacity to say that ONLY your interpretation of the Torah is the correct one? And yes, Halachah is important, but there can simply be different Halachah. If say, a community chooses to follow the Ramban and tie tzitzit of the same color of the garment, aren't they Jewish? They follow and read the same lines in the Torah, they just interpret it differently. It just enriches the culture in my opinion. Judaism has always been about evolution, change, debate and spirituality. It's not a communist regime with uniformity of thought. And your idea that you have the power to take away millions of people's identity isn't just offensive, it's dead wrong. We don't need your permission, and we follow our own rabbis. Now that that's off my chest, I'm going back to studying some Midrash. L'Shalom.

Therefore, it would not be a biblical thing for the woman to decide whom she will choose to bare children with. She may decide to have a child with 12 different men of all different races. That would not make 12 Jewish children of 12 different races. The woman doesn't have the jewish line to pass, it's the man who is a descendant of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

It’s incredibly difficult to find a Jewish spouse for a regular person who doesn’t look like a model, doesn’t have a big family name, and isn’t wealthy. Then add being older. Then add having a job and being busy. Incredibly, incredibly difficult. So you have two options, neither of which is “Jewish.” You either (1) marry out. Forbidden. Or you (2) stay single. Not right. Not Jewish.

Yes , and it is that exact context that we love the convert...but HOW is the question. Go to a person who studied medicine but did not go to Medical School? read up on law but never went to school and met "standards"? A spiritual marriage is not about "hot " love, it is a partnership and foundation of a home hopefully with children but maybe not. It is still a spiritual partnership.

Is it are you rabinically tied to God or are you following God just for His sake? Usually a conversion document can be a physical reminder of your faith oath. However, the real, strongest oath is within your soul. Without the middle man. There is no such thing as a diluting fabric, it's a test of mankind's endurance, that is for all tribes equally felt. Ask yourself what is your special mission on Earth? What do you do best when society is breaking down? Europeans are tested during the war of Ukraine-Russia. Our population numbers are dwindling amidst the spiritual revolution that started in the Netherlands. Since I was a child I felt I was an inheritor of God's land, something in me pulls towards godliness and a drive to guide mankind. God chose the Shabbos at random, just to make sense for humans mind who like to count whatever they can count. Our physical bodies need some rest and what better day than to rest on the Lord's day?
@davidh43742 ай бұрын
Shabbos is the original Sabbath, so it's better than the so-called "Lord's Day"...especially because that "Lord" explicitely downplayed the religious enforcement of any sabbath.

The intermarriage is a two part one deal with the jew whether male or female want to marry a non Jew. The second part the non Jew has not clue to following these rules which the non Jew behavior will continue as not following the rules because that all the non Jew body knows by habit. This will create a conflict between both.

What are your thoughts on Jews who believe in Jesus? Jesus was a Jew and Christianity was built off Jewish laws.
The covenant from God was made with Abraham. God told Abraham the blessing will go to Isaac, and not to Ishmael. There was no mention of Sarah in the covenant. Sarah is covered by the covenant of God which He made with Abraham, but the covenant was never with Sarah. Therefore, the father is the one who passed the covenant and Jewish line, not the mother. At this point, who can follow their lineage all the way back to Abraham and Sarah to prove they are fully Jewish. It's getting diluted with each generation. Only the Lord knows who has Jewish blood. Many people have Jewish blood and they don't know it. And probably some who claim to have Jewish blood may not have Jewish blood, or may have very little. I don't agree with people converting to become Jewish. You are Jewish by birth, not by accepting traditions. The saddest part are those who are real Jews but live unrighteously, which means their Jewishness is ruined by their sins which they love.
@alk15828 күн бұрын
It is an insult of the holocaust to call this a "silent holocaust". Furthermore, the Rabbis themselves allow parents to severely emotionally abuse their own children which causes many Jews to be unable to get married in the first place. I should know. My father thinks it is his job to "save" every woman as he has low opinion of women. I physically resemble my mother more than my father and since my father only thinks women are to use to manipulate he treats me really badly. I am sort of the son of the hated wife. My family excludes from family events and has done for over 20 years. It is very hurtful and emotionally abusive. Yet the Rabbis have nothing to say about it. There is a reason why of Jews who consider themselves Orthodox are only 10-15% of all Jews. Because 3 times as many are forced out than brough in. Yet people who are forced out of the community getting no support that it bothers these Rabbis who the person marries speaks volumes about them.
@TheEGA44212 ай бұрын
Great discussion. After listening to this conversation, I believe since 1948ish, some Jewish people slowly began to date and marry outside of their religion due to not being liked. Eventually in today's time some Jewish people do not practice their religion as earlier generations. Many reasons for that. The same can be said for other religions. Looking back throughout history it seems that around the 1960's religion (all) seem to start taking a back seat in people's lives. By design (my opinion). The only thing that has been prevelant is underminding the Jewish community. I guess the $64,000 question should be "why are Jewish people constantly being underminding"? My answer (my opinion) is that the Jewish people are God's chosen people.

I'm personally dealing with this with my daughter wanting to marry completely outside of how I raised and taught her, she knows that we don't agree and are against the relationship but I am still in her life letting her know that my love for her has never changed and will never change. I wished to illustrate that another path/alternative was available. Children should not be pawns. Now, we also came from different cultures, but that is a story for another time.
