I think some people are misinterpreting Nolan's books a little bit. They were initially reports to the Viltrum empire about different threats and things that could oppose them. This was long before Earth or ever having any thoughts of betraying his people. However on Earth as part of is secret identity as a novelist he decided to turn his life experiences into stories which now happens to be beneficial info for our side.

While the whole episode was great, (GOATed Red, surviving Rae, setting up Angstrom etc.), I really like the storybook segment. Like, imagine the power of Ragnars, if they can just chop out Viltrumite's head with zero problem and if they jumping so high in this heavy gravity, them how high would they jump under normal gravity conditions? And Nolan barely survived them. And there is a dude with Kamehameha Gun, that can shoot the stars.

As crazy as it sounds, it is technically possible to survive a headshot, you just have to be insanely lucky. The bullet has to go all the way through so it doesn't turn into shrapnel inside your skull. It also needs to hit a part of your brain that isn't needed for your immediate (as in the next few minutes) survival. About 90% of headshots kill the victim before they reach the hospital and about 50% of the people who do make it die in hospital. So that leaves Rex about a 5% chance of surviving the first couple hours post-headshot. Luckily this world has more advanced technology than ours so those odds might be a little better.
