Should have sprayed an alcohol based solution (Windex) on the plane and decal first and then used a credit card as a tool to smooth it out. It allows the decal to move and eliminates bubbles. When the alcohol solution evaporates the decal is permanent.

I used to work at a vinyl wrap shop and did these kind of graphics all the time. Lining them up was always a pain but using wrap gloves helped a lot. Can’t wait to see this thing in the air!

This lettering proccess is usually done with piece of straight edge plastic so you dont get bubbles

Congrats, Mike! You can use a razor blade and make a tiny cut just so the air has a way out. The same technique is used when applying window tint.

@MojoGrip I’m very interested in doing this myself. I do have a question though. Will you be classed as the builder of the aircraft & be able to do your annual inspections & maintenance etc. I’m currently in the army & leaving soon. I’m very interested in buying a TSI & will do if I’m going to be classed as the builder after the process that you have followed as I’m gonna have the same issues that you have in that my wife & kids won’t be to happy if I buy a sling & have to spend all my time building or can you do a certain amount of the work exactly as you have & be able to do my inspections etc as this will save me loads of cash as aviation is not a cheap thing to get into. I’m a huge fan & trying to decide VANS or Sling. If Sling offer this program & be classed as the builder I think I will probably choose Sling. Thx for any info in advance. 😊 good luck with your aviation journey. I can’t wait to see this wonderful aircraft in flight. I may steal your aircraft colour if that’s ok 🙈.

That is one good looking plane the paint really looks different and makes all the difference. Wondering if you are following the Raptor experimental plane being made by a Ozzie guy . It is powered by a Diesel engine and is canard with pusher propeller . Would be good if you could meet up and do a video The raptor did a first flight last month and almost crashed hopefully he can get the bugs figured out as so much work has gone into it

I gasped at the tools resting on the horizontal stab, the wing walk, as well as the cardboard box siting on the top of the fuselage, just forward of the windshield. Also, painted parts sitting on the bare hanger floor. BUT, hey, it's not my project.

You don't have to take any number they give you, you can request anything you want. Mine was N71SA. 71 was there year and SA was the original owner's initials. A short N number is an advantage in my book.

Yea, most people who register new aircraft request an N-number with some sort of meaning. Craziest one I’ve seen though is the Cirrus SR-22 with N666FU!
