Great video Robbie and was very impressed with your choice of mooring and positive comments about being near the railways, great class 66 in GBRF Livery too well filmed! Thank you kindly good sir! Big fan of narrow boating and the railways (hired one with the Mrs and couple of her friends last year - experienced boaters) and had a great time! Canals or railways it all links us back to a time of fantastic British industry that fortunately we can still see the remains of today thanks to people like yourself documenting it so well. Thank you sir and keep up the great work, Paul

One of the longest stretches without services for boaters. At least you can go to Aldi, near Stafford (Bridge 98). Tixall Wide is the best mooring on that stretch.

Great to see you again Robbie. You need a coal boat therefore a worthwhile exercise to kill time for you would be to research them and note them in their different patches on the network and phone ahead to book them. Just an idea. Keep safe and dry and virus free.

We had a similar thing happen in the building trade first lockdown. Couldn't get a bag of plaster anywhere, people were selling it for £60 a bag on Ebay when it should be £7. I hope you're well stocked up on coal now Robbie.

Robbie, found out that Ska Brewing is sold in Britain. You'll have to look for their Mexican Lager. Think Corona but with a bit more malt and a tad more hops. Ska is brewed in the town I used to live in, Durango, Colorado. Cheers
@rambling_rob70354 жыл бұрын
@Richardo Franzie I actually left Durango 6 years ago. It was getting too crowded. After years of Outside Mag rating Dgo in the top 10 of great mountain towns, the Land Rover and Caddie owners showed up and bought houses with decks the size of my house. I've been to Aspen exactly once. That was enough. I drive through Telluride. SKA has some great brews. Mexican Lager doesn't, that I remember, have more alcohol, just a bigger hop flavor. Buster Nut Brown Ale was a favorite. Hope you can find it back east.

Coal fires (and charcoal) like to be snug, to have a nice nest reflecting heat back onto the coals. A such, its hard to run a fire that is too small for the firebox. One remedy is to get some heavy ( 3mm-12mm ) angle iron spacers to form a smaller nest for a smaller fire inside the firebox. Even just a pair of 6" long 2x2 angle iron set down can make a cozy trough for a small & efficient coal fire in a regular stove.

Loved your Pub of the Week on the Canal! Bummer on the loss on the scratch off. My huny fortunately does well on these - well, enough to fund his next round of scratch offs. I'm still waiting on him to win the big one. I hope you found some coal or some wood to burn and keep warm! I'm in north Texas USA and it is still way to warm here to even think about stoking up the fireplace.

Your search for coal reminds me of a time when I was flying my 4-seater aircraft across country a few years back (when LORAN was still being used, GPS was uncommon in small planes, and phones most definitely did not have GPS). When I arrived at my planned fuel stop, it was after they had left for the day and no one was around... After looking around for a bit and not finding anyone, I noticed that the gas pump was left unlocked, so I filled up and left a note on their door saying how many gallons that I had pumped, that I appreciated that they left the pump unlocked, and that I would call when I got back to Houston and they could charge my credit card number. I had heard of airports that would do that in more rural places (like this one), but never encountered it. My other choice was to camp with my aircraft overnight and feed the mosquitoes which I didn't particularly want to do... I called them when I got back and thanked them for being the trusting sorts and gave them my credit card number... They laughed and said that it was left unlocked by accident...
