This hit home for me so much. Just had to have a talk with my mother (I’m 40 yo) who doesn’t understand that sometimes not being ok can be completely normal and a phase to pass through. She sees me as ALWAYS not ok and my family treats me as such, or blames me for not being ok. They tell me to get on medication and refuse to see the issues and stress they are causing. When I asked my mother to stop scheduling things for my kids to do unless she was going to physically take them herself because I live in a camper with 4 ppl (2kids) and two dogs, her response was, but you weren’t ok before this either and you chose to live in a camper (this was before covid 19, but now we are stuck in the camper due to insane financial strain). She tries to listen and just once. JUST ONCE I would love her to hug me and tell me.... “sometimes it’s ok to not be ok”, instead I end every open talk conversation feeling like I’m not ok, I’ve never been ok, I’ll never BE ok and it’s all on me. This talk needs to be brought up more often... ty for this talk.
