The Tundra line was about one foot to the right which helped keep the front right wheel loaded with traction on the Tundra. The front wheel of the Ram was off the ground due to the harder line. I would say they both performed great. I guess I’m one of the few that like the Tundra grill, I think it looks burley. Both are beautiful beasts.

With my 2010 Tundra it doesn't like to go straight from 4x2 to 4lo. It prefers to go into 4hi first and it helps if the truck is moving to get the splines to line up for engagement. Then once in 4hi I put the transmission into neutral and it always goes straight into 4lo. I do wish there was an option for 2lo. I learned to drive on an `89 F-150 4x4 with manual hubs. We would leave the hubs unlocked and pull the transfer case lever back into low range, 2lo. This made it a easier when hooking up to trailers and maneuvering trailers around a tight back yard. 4lo still works for this, but the driveline binds up at tight steering angles and you can't use 4lo on pavement.

They put the transfer case you are looking for in the Sequoia. I can use 4hi or lo and leave the center un locked. It is very handy to have 4hi un locked (Essentially AWD) in the rain and snow. 4lo un locked is great for backing trailers up steep hills. My cousin has a rec property with a very steep grass entrance. Everyone needs 4wd to back their trailer up the hill without wheelspin. But I am the only one that can do it without tearing up the dirt road and grass.

Drivers skill is eroding due to these drivers aids. This channel has gotten really, really bad lately, no 12 inch screen and no 360 camera views and no 10 speed transmission means this is a sub par 4x4. Andre cannot even remember the line he chose and hits the only large boulder in the way and then complains of no camera after damaging his vehicle, the lack of driver skill is the problem here and will continue to get worse as they rely on drivers aids more and more.

None of these new trucks are really off road vehicles anyways. They are massive with absolutely awful approach, brake over, and departure angles. Nobody who buys this actually goes down tough trails. I have a 2019 Ram Big Horn with the Off Road package, which is a great value (electric rear locker, full skid plates, 1 inch lift, and better shocks for about $700) The nice thing about the Ram is the shape of the fender openings. With a two inch leveling kit, you can run 35 inch tires. Neither Ford or GM can do that, and with the looks of the Tundra fenders, they won't fit 35's without a significant lift. The Toyota design is growing on me, and Toyota vehicles seem to last forever. We will see on the new V6 Turbo. Love the videos. Thanks Andre.

Driver power door lock quit working, fog lights just fell out, the windshield washer on the passenger side doesn’t work, if you lean against the truck you get a ding, literally. I call it my thin skinned truck. Good thing I only drive it to work. I hate this truck, it get 13.5 miles to the gallon. My next truck will not be a Toyota. The last Toyota I owned was a 75 celica, that I bought new, it sucked too. This 16 was the first time since 75 to buy 1. I’m done with Toyota! You know what both these trucks didn’t need??? Tow hooks!!!! Both preformed the same in my eyes, though for the price I like the extra tech and power of the Toyota.

It would be nice to see an RTI score for each. Maybe it’s time for TFL to make or buy their own RTI ramp for truck/suv testing?🤔

Absolutely. Another fun test for those "off road" trucks. Another fun test. Backing down and out of the off road test segments. Really test the traction/ agility of the vehicles..

Turn off the traction control in the Ram : select 4wd (not auto) hold esc button in. At about 6 to 8 seconds it should ding and display ESC off

These trucks marketed as "off-road" have such low ground clearance! Seems at a minimum they should have 10 to 11" for off road packages.

The ram is actually good value for money ,the extra change from the money used to buy a rebel could be used to fit a decent lift and good tyres

Highly disagree. That RAM doesn't come with LED lights or a decent interior. If budget was an issue, you could pick up a chevy Trailboss LT for the same price as the RAM back country.

I think a review like this is tough. Run any trail multiple times and you subconsciously learn the nuances regardless of the vehicle. If you ran this trail multiple times with both vehicles you would never struggle or hit side steps.

Not sure why so many people think the old Tundra looks better than the new. I like the 3rd gen. The older Tundra looked like it was stuck in the year 2000, lol. On another note, for me, half the fun is modding a truck for what you want to use it for. You don’t have to stick with all stock….

Ok, agreed on all points but "best looking". Are you kidding? That front makes me suspect there was a secret Stalinist purge of all designers with good taste in Japan. And btw, I don't really care what a vehicle looks like when I buy, so I would still likely go for Tundra despite its front being hideous, but at least I won't try to tell myself it isn't.

So the RAM costs nearly the same as the Tundra but doesn't have nearly the same amount of features? Did I read that right? I know it's MSRP and in normal times, that RAM is automatically $10K off that MSRP price but does it even have active safety stuff that is standard on the Tundra? I know it has halogen lights for nearly $57K!

I understand the desire for fuel economy tends to influence tire size, but seriously, Tundra should come stock with some oversized 32" in tires, at a minimum. I guess you have to get the TRD Pro to get bigger OEM tires.
