Perfect! Exactly what I was looking for! Multiple color tie dye! Tysm for this video

Be sure to use made for synthetic dyes as regular 1step tie dye colors or procrion dyes will not work the same. I've recently been playing with idye poly and am blown away with the color options and techniques possible with it. I have also upgraded my steamer to one that is stainless steel and there is no exposed heating element.

I got a stainless steamer off of Amazon that doesn't have an exposed heating element , works great was around $80. Steamer gives consistent heat which is required for all synthetic dyes

You can try dying with synthetic first and if needed use natural fiber dye to tackle the 30%

Hello, thank you SO much for this. What concentration of dye to water did you use in the bottles? I found a steamer for cheap on my local page and i will be dyeing a costume for my daughter for Halloween!
@shaunahutchinsonattheshay21422 жыл бұрын
So I made my formulas undiluted but premoistend the fabric with water first. My thought was the steam would be adding water to it. Are you trying to do a pattern for her costume or just a single color? Because foe a single color stovetop method works just fine. Make sure you get the dye for synthetics. And you can leave out the colorstay spray, turns out it only works on natural fibers so no point in using.

@@shaunahutchinsonattheshay2142 Thank you so much for the reply! Yes I am doing ROYGBIV spiral tie dye on the dress. She wants to be a rainbow princess! I cut off a little piece and I am swatch testing now but I diluted 1:5 like the regular dye tutorials for tie dye, so we'll see if it comes out dark enough. I am also using the dye-who-must-not-be-named synthetics line. Thank you for the note about the color stay too, I didn't get it and I was super worried I made the wrong call.

how long do you steam them? i’m using an instant pot
@shaunahutchinsonattheshay21422 жыл бұрын
I don't have a set rule on timing just keep in mind the longer heat is used the darker bolder the color will be. Never used an instant pot I'm hoping it has a steamer and you're not pressure cooking, not sure what could happen with that but I'm curious lol and please please please don't turn around and cook food to consume with it after you've tainted with dye, safety first. I got a double basket stainless steel steamer with no exposed heating element off Amazon recently that I'm really liking...

“Quickly so the released color doesn’t stain white areas.” Why IS it that it stains white areas…? Why does staining it at all have to take such a process and many hours and yet simply rinsing it out can instantly stain it?
@shaunahutchinsonattheshay2142 Жыл бұрын
@@Hey_Jamie if it were to stain it wouldn't be as dark or vibrant as say color that had been processed longer, but things can bleed and stain so I try not to let them soak or sit long
