Travelling to all 198 railway stations in Ireland and Northern Ireland
Vicki and Geoff are taking All The Stations international! The duo will embark on a journey to visit all 198 railways stations in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
All The Stations - Ireland will explore the length and breadth of the Iarnród Éireann and Northern Ireland Railways networks. Along the way, Vicki and Geoff will meet the communities connected to the lines, interviewing local people and those who work on the railways, to find out about their experiences of travelling by train.
To The Book - Our book, The Railway Adventures, is published by September Publishing and was released in October 2018. It accompanies our 2017 All The Stations adventure, when we travelled to ever single railway station in Great Britain.
It is available here: www.amzn.com/19...

Geoff, Vicki, The abandoned station you saw on the way to Fishguard is Wolf's Castle halt. It was opened on 5th May 1924 and I have a picture of it still open in July 1958. If you come through Fishguard on your return and the two of you would like a tour of the castles of Pembrokeshire leave me a comment here and I will arrange it for you. We've some classics that Vicki would love! - Richard.

Loving your "All the Stations" adventure. You seem confused as to the difference between a Boat (small) and a Ship (Big) . Just remember, you can take a boat (small) on a ship (big), but you can't take a ship (big) on a boat (small)

These videos are worth watching just for Vicki's antics! Ferries are fun. At 3 hours that one isn't too long. You should try the overnight from Harwich to Hook of Holland. I did it several times in the mid-90s with a truck load of gear going to the RAI exhibition centre in Amsterdam. We got to use the Truckers Lounge and had cabins. The boat leaves about 11:30 and gets into Hook of Holland in time for breakfast. I'm not a trucker, but at the time a friend whose company built TV & radio stations used to exhibit and since I would go work for him demonstrating the kit, I suggested instead of hiring a moving firm we should rent a 7 tonne truck with a tail lift and do it ourselves. We would have about £200K worth of electronics in the truck! Great fun pretending to be truckers!

The, now defunct, Olua Line between Sheerness and Vlissingen took 8/9 hours and was our prefferred route when travelling to German RAF Stations on detachment. We got a cabin and *some" sleep before the onward journey. The UK to Westfalia journey via Dover/Calais would have been too much without a break!

I’ve already watched this series through once, but you’ve no idea what this means to me. I’m Irish living in Australia, I get awful homesick and I come back to watch this series when I’m feeling a bit down. I was home in Ireland last month and did the Heuston to Westport line, not sure when I’ll make it back again, so thank you so much for taking the time to put all of this together.

All water vessels are boats, even submarine boats. The water going vessels called ships are actually ship-rigged boats. Took me a long time, some years ago, to find this info. I made that Fishguard to Rosslare crossing in 1981. Its supposed to be one of the most consistently rough sea crossings in the world, second only to crossing the Bay of Biscay.

In 1997, I (and college boyfriend) took the ferry from Rosslare, Ireland (after visiting family) to Roscoff, France, as it was the coldest June in Ireland since... 1934 or something. So we went to sunny & warm France! Later in the trip we took the ferry to Holyhead from Dublin & then made our way by bus to London & the sleeper to Glasgow & then up into the highlands & eventually (via ferry from Ullapool) to the Isle of Lewis! ... Man, I travel a lot. :-D In 8 days it's to the trains of London, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, & Poland! TO THE TRAINS! (and the cows cows cows)!!!
