The Trogly's Guitar Show Maybe start the series with setting up a small/proper practice area or even guitar care tips. Also, the reason the Fender locking tuners keep cutting the strings is that you are tightening the lock wheel up too much. No need to crank it down super tight, just very snug will do it. The hardened anvils in the tuners used to "grab/hold" the string ends are easily hard enough to cut through them too.

@backwater_j4 жыл бұрын
Weird. I think part of the reason people are having trouble with that switch is that with the jag it sits in the lower bout significantly further from the strings. While I enjoy the quirky looks it is a little jarring how they tried to match the jag aesthetics to the strat body without matching the body contours. And it's odd how much they departed from jag wiring despite the looks, not sure if I like or dislike that. Sounds great though!

It doesn't sound trashy enough for me after getting to the sound demo. It kinda sounded exactly like a strat with a heavy duty paint job. I love the look of it. I wonder if ditching those claws would do anything to the tone. Is it shorter scale like a Jag usually is? My Mustang at home has a more spongey tone going on, and I know that has the 24" short scale.

Nice to see such a detailed and honest review, thanks :)

Don't know why they didn't use the regular 1MEG pots for this guitar. This pot value is stock for Jaguars and it really makes a big difference for the sound. With the 250k pots it sounds too dark. Maybe Fender changed it because it's supposed to be a mashup of two guitars and Strats have 250k pots. Some people find Jaguars too bright, so could be that as well.

@DoobTube715 жыл бұрын
Although it would not be in keeping with a Jag,...that pickup selector mounted parallel to the strings is totally in the way of strumming and playing. It would have been better oriented on a centerline angle with the lower horn of the guitar, farther down and out of the way, imho. Additionally, I would have preferred the bridge pickup to be angled in respect to the Strat design. Too much Jag in this Strat mashup, imho... and an angled bridge pickup would be a better balance of the two designs. LOVE the direct body mount pickups for better tone, versus hung off the underside of the plastic pick guard. Not my style, but a gorgeous Fender guitar and concept. I love the parallel universe concept and models, the Tele-Strat being my favorite.

You would think by now Fender would have got the hang of neat wiring looms. This guitar still has the paint in the routes and presumably little drifts of buffing compound waiting to get inside the electronics. On the 2018 Player guitars it seems that Fender have worked out how to paint and buff the body first and then cut the routes really neatly with no wood tear out. The Players are really impressive, although they also have messy wiring.

Too much going on but at least it has one thing going right for it, no angled bridge pickup but on a strat shape. All regular strats should be like that. I couldn’t care less that a stray would lose the full classic look. The sound of the thinner strings would thicken just a bit. That bit is a good improvement especially for singe-could pickups that already provide a thinner sound than humbuckers. If you MUST angle the bridge pickup, do it in the opposite direction which evens out the sound better. Jimmy Hendrix could have gotten a lefty strat but knew by just flipping a righty over and reversing the strings that there was a slight improvement in sound and output and sustain for the thinner strings on a Stratocaster. Smart man.
@markjamesmeli25205 жыл бұрын
The sweet sounds that come out of this baby is all that IS Fender. Well done Fender. Since it sounds so "Stratty," you have to wonder why they used the Jag pickups at all. You're right, this is more of a hybrid guitar. I really hate the way it looks. The body looks far too small for the plates. It reminds me of one of those weird Baldwin guitars from the 1960s, or just some Sears type thing.
