I don't spend $ on characters...never will! I had no problem dropping $20 on a battle or strike pass, and used to do that fairly regularly. I think that if you can afford it, it makes the game much more fun. Once all the anti-player junk started with Cabal, then OML, I decided to stop spending money completely on this game. If Scopely goes back to being player-friendly, I'll start spending again. It's funny how they think they can convert light-spenders to whales by creating FOMO. I think all they will be successful in doing is converting light-spenders back into F2P.

I was going to write an explanation about how this is part of Scopely’s pattern the past year and that this isn’t new, but I’m tired of trying to explain it to people. The truth is very simple. Scopely does not want higher spending tiers losing to lower spending tiers. Period. I’m not saying I agree with how they are doing it. Once it did, obviously us paid account holders were concerned. However, we had easier paths to new content, items, mounts, character traits (AA), and other things. Nothing was blocked off by a pay wall altogether. Say a Nightmare horse mount was the item in question. Since we paid for our account, the amount cost 5plat and no quest line. While F2p had a cost of 60p and a long quest line to run. Nothing crazy hard, but the consuming, would need help from others for certain parts, items crafted by a specific kind of crafter and lvl of crafter. Etc. See there's simple ways to make spenders have easier access to something without complete paywalling something and then vaulting immediately. Here's another random example. There's a new dungeon being released. Has all kinds of new goodies/upgrades and cool things. What they would do is for first 2-4 weeks F2p didn't have access. Once it became common and what it would be opened up to F2p who again had to go on a quest line before they could access said dungeon. I'm all for spenders having said advantage. But making it 100% unavailable to F2p is not healthy solution for a playbase.

Guess what? Guess what? GAME IS STILL GOING. Every 4-6 months I hear this nonsense. Game is still going. Everyone needs to calm down and stop being so dramatic. The biggest issue here is the vaulted term. No one knows what this means. ZIM was available FTP farmable 1 yr after release and ZUGGS still isnt farmable after 8 months. Cosmis crucible is many peoples favorite game mode despite it not being as rewarding as arena, raids, or even war. If they are going to gate your ability to compete for a year or who knows how long.....why even bother with this game mode. The weekly and season rewards are not worth the hassle. Which then is them shooting themselves in the foot. Why buy this team if all of the above is true.

As for the next legendary, I suspect that they will leave the "cheese the first node to get a basic unlock" option, but they will tweek the points so that you can't get the 5th star without all of the teams, named and unnamed.

They didn't stargate anything. Well, maybe they did, but it's nothing new. They were doing it with all the pre-scourge legendary characters. I'm 100% free to play and most legendary characters I had to wait until the second time they came around. And when comparing to Old Man Logan, most legendaries, I could only get to the 3-star or 4-star node. So when the event ended, I pretty much ended with a 3-star or 4-star legendary. The only difference, in the pre-scourges, the legendaries unlocked at 5-star. Scourges though, it varies from 3-star and 4-star. So even if the pre-scourges weren't 5-star unlocks, I would still have them at 3-star or 4-star. SAME AS OLD MAN LOGAN. Oh and then with the scourge legendaries, I could only get 3-star or 4-stars on them. At best 4.5-stars. Then I'd have to wait for the scourge to come around again to get more stars. SAME AS OLD MAN LOGAN. NOTHING has really changed except the path you are taking to get there. Everything ends up at the same destination (free to play will pretty much always end up at 3-stars or 4-stars while those that spend get 5+ stars). So everyone is wasting their time complaining, and everyone needs to stop being so dramatic. And NO I don't work for the developers, and I am NOT a bot. But I've been playing since Launch Day and I know what goes on.

While I can see this will upset many people I also think this is all a matter of how you play the game. I have been playing since 2020 and I enjoy the game itself. I however had experience playing other mobile shard collector games before MSF and this is how they all are. So I had realistic goals from the beginning. I was completely F2P for the first 2 years and just grinded all events and managed my resources well. Last year when they made the strike pass decent I started to buy them. If you are trying to be on top of the leaderboards without being a big spender this is definitely going to hurt that market. I will continue to buy the strike passes that if they have what I need in them (i probably skip half of them) and just play casually like I have been for the past 3.5 years. I am ok with being a hard stuck gold CC player in a hard stuck platinum WAR guild. I will continue to play the game because I have never been sweated to be on top of any leader boards and if you shouldn't be sweated to either.

Epic toons, epic paywalls. I quit the game over this kind of greed in 2021. Returned at the beginning of the year when friends told me how much more player friendly it had become. I was pretty happy with it for a while too, to the extent that I felt comfortable spending on a few things again, but that Scopely greed has really started shining through the last couple of months. It would be nice if the negative reactions would be enough for them to correct course, but it seems like they've already written the non-whale/kraken player off. They known they're going to make their money from the content creators who need the toons for content, and the top alliance members who need the toons to compete. It's a really slimy tactic. For me, I'm thinking it's time to close the wallet and move on again.

Assuming you're neither lucky nor unlucky, it's 9.39 shards per orb. That is 34 orbs to 5 stars assuming that is your only source. That is 22,950 cores. You might get a handful of Pym shards in time, but it's unlikely to be many, so best not assume a meaningful saving. That means you need to get 75 shards of Shuri from her event, which might be doable, it depends on what her release is. If she's the month long character (and the current one conveniently ends in a few days), you might need to save a few more cores.

Sure, I'm bored. Lets do some math. Short answer: maybe, but also possibly no. Obviously, we have to make a ton of assumptions. Assuming that you can buy the cores for the orbs to unlock both Pym and Shuri (huge assumption), they are the same 675 core cost (huge assumption) as most other unlock orbs, these orbs give an average of 8 shards per orb pull (huge assumption), and you need 320 shards each to unlock them (there is nor reason to think this is not the case). That would require 39 shard pulls at cost of 26,625 for each character (52,652 total cores). However, if you assume that Scopely will do their f2p unlocked method before August 3rd and you will get at least 100 shards, then you can reduce the amount of cores down to 28 pulls per character at a cost of 18,900 cores (37,800). Of course you have to take on some risk that you got the right number of shards ahead of time, but you should at least have some information about their unlock and might be able to guess how many shards you expect. If Shuri and Pym are unlocked in the usual fashion and you get a typical amount of shards and this is all completed by the August 3rd cutoff date, then you would likely have to unload almost all of your cores and still have a possible risk of not getting CB if the f2p event is super stingy, or they are a 2* unlock with no real path to 3* for non-spenders. However, it is also possible that you won't be able to core them for shards. It is even possible they make the Pym coring and f2p unlock only available after August 3rd causing people to have wasted 20k+ cores on Shuri, with no shot to unlock a 5* Pym before August 3rd. I would hope the calendar of upcoming events would let us know before risking those cores. This is a huge FOMO event meant to get spenders to open their wallets in a way they wouldn't normally ("It's just this one time!"). I doubt they want to allow people who have horded cores (f2p or not) to walk over the event.

@@johncarpenter440 There is no reason to assume that the orbs will be priced differently than every other character orb, the currently available character orb is sasquatch, which has an expected drop of 9.39, no character has ever unlocked with 320 shards, which doesn't correspond with any star level. I won't log on until something changes, i hate to quit, but they pushed too far. I used to buy a pass here and there, no more with this game. Cosmic Crucible is my favorite mode. With one move they killed that mode and this game.. my alliance is done.

If you free to play don't core this character at all. Just suffer and he will be free to play later. We don't even need him and I cored Black Knight with 9k cores F2P and I actually regretted it because you could have gotten by with a 4-5 red Black Knight and still be competitive

The black bolt rework is seriously boring, they just made him a little healthier who still has the boring 100 speed and has less damage than black widow after the buff. They need to rework this rework otherwise he'll just be some moderate niche character just for synergy.
