Till has a license as pyrotechnician. Would not be allowed to do such things on stage otherwise. 3. @@Hair8Metal8Karen Yes that is the story. Part of their staging that was on fire fell into the crowd during an early show. One interesting tidbit of Till Lindeman's accent or pronunciation is that it isn't a local dialect, but an old fashioned theatre dialect designed to be carried across distances in theatres and still be clearly understood. The fact that Till makes it work so wel with his Bass/Bariton vocal range is a very central component to Rammstein's sound and trademark. And this is just a very small part of what Rammstein has to offer in terms of style and range.
@NavaSDMB2 жыл бұрын

Most notable, however, was how he handled the incident - the band kept playing and he personally moved the fallen piece, regardless of the risk to himself. That’s not acting, that’s being an awesome human. After this incident he was inspired to ensure nothing like that would ever happen again, and took it upon himself to become licensed in pyro. From the looks of their current stage… that effort has more than paid off. You can find the video I’m referring to on KZbin, and also some interviews about the incident around the web. First off: thank you for the vocal analysis of the song and their techniques. This goes so far beyond my minimal understanding and it broadens my acknowldgement of their skills and talents even more. Thank you so much for that. The intro to the Maddison Square Garden videos always includes the whistle as part of the "Amerika Tour" intro. The whistle is part of the song "Engel". It is also one of their iconic trademarks most easily recognizable as a Rammstein song. I am not certain if the whistle is actually performed live on stage, or if it is playback. As whistling on tone on demand is such an incredibly difficult feat. Often whistles start off-key by a tiny bit until the exact pitch is hit by the whistler. Whistles change pitch quite a lot with so many different sets of affecting factors, such as air humidity, air pressure, humidity of the lips of the whistler, exhaustion, smoke, etc. But that doesn't detract from the performance in either case for me. Should they actually whistle live on stage then even more respect for them. That would be awesome beyond all belief, especially if Richard Z Kruspe and Paul Landers whistle in duet. The wings Till carries for that performance weigh around 50 kgs, so roughly 110 lbs, showing off what a beast Till is, even at his current age of 59 (in 2022). Now imagine carrying that, belted to your chest and belly with a harness cutting off full, deep breathing, and having to try to sing with it while remaining upright after nearly two hours of show. Hehe, that you picked up on the posture as a characterization of the angel is funny. It probably has less to do with Till's characterization of the angel, but rather the insane weight dragging his whole body backwards from the shoulders. He probably has to lean forward quite a bit to retain his equilibrium vs the insane leverage those wings apply to his whole body. So looking down, and pulling the microphone to him was probably a necessity and not really intentional as depicting the angel. 😁😁 But then again, this is Rammstein we are talking about. It could have been completely intentional, and I am spouting total bollocks here. We'll probably never know for certain. When it comes to the Rammstein lyrics nearly all their songs that aren't predominantly fun contain very deep, problematic, philosophical aspects. Their tendency to twist them into multiple meanings by using the German language is exemplary. Homophones and double meanings are stacked in such a way that neither interpretation is off the table, often until the very end of a stanza. Even then the potential double meanings (not necessarily double entendres as is meant in the English language) still allow for multiple interpretations. That's what is so amazing about Rammstein. You can most often discuss their songs and interpretations for hours without coming to a final true result. None, a few, or even all interpretations could be true at the same time. Fascinating talent there. Even Rammstein themself rarely if ever comment on the meaning of their songs. They smile and remain mute about it, increasing the mystery even more. The front line band members are often covered in a flame- and heat-retardant fluid or gel so they can survive all the flaming shenanigans on stage without major burns. If you haven't seen it yet, you might want to check out "Asche zu Asche" or "Feuer Frei!" for some of their insane pyrotechnical effects they themselves perform. All of the band members are registered owners of a minor pyrotechnics license, Till even has a major pyrotechnics license under the German law. "Engel", in comparison, is still fairly tame when it comes to their pyro effects. Not that those angel wings aren't spectacular, not in the least, but they pale in comparison to the sea of flames that is the stage for some songs.

The whistle is indeed done live. You can see it done by the guitarist after the first chorus. If you listen closely, you can even hear him almost overblow once or twice as he puts out a little too much air, but immediately catches it
