My nascar gas cart broke RIGHT before the race. In this video I perform a TIG Weld repair on it and bring it back better than new.

@@JustVoss thanks!!! I’ve been doing some small repairs for a dirt track race team. Make the connection through one of my foremen. One reason I love them is because I don’t have to invent anything. Just make it work again...hopefully with the pre existing material. Nothing out of pocket haha!

Wouldn’t it be better to increase the distance from the tire and use thicker steel to be able to have more reinforcement and possibly add a sleeve for more reinforcement and weld surface?

I would propose a design change. I would put a shoulder on the pin, weld on the back side like you did, then run a fillet around the top side. On the mating piece, either put a chamfer or a counterbore to clear the fillet weld. Other than that, great video once again 😁

You need to get a small lathe. I would have turned a new pin with a flange on the pin, then welded it to the underside.

I need a full size lathe! But that might be small depending on what you consider full-size.

@@JustVoss I have a 13” x 5’ lathe and I would say that’s medium. 9-10” I would say is small. You’d do well with a 10” lathe. And they’re fun as hell to learn how to use.
