Because we are screwed in the near future. Tomlin is going to sell a lie that we're contenders when we aren't. It's going to be the same crap all over again next year. Our best defensive players are entering their 30's and our offense still sucks. We can't get a QB this year because there aren't any worth a damn in this draft and we're picking way too late anyway. Our organization won't trade up to get one if one is available nor will they pay top dollar in free agency. They are OK with doing just enough not to be bad instead of aiming for greatness. The Chiefs didn't have to replace Alex Smith. They were making the playoffs every year. They didn't win Super Bowls until they took a chance on a high upside 21 year old from Texas Tech though

Ravens fan here coming in peace, with respect for our arch-rival. This game honestly shocked me. I've seen a lot of Ravens-Steelers games, and one thing I've learned is that this matchup is always a different animal. I've learned that it doesn't matter how these teams look overall, how injured they are, what they have on the line - Ravens-Steelers is always a knock-down, drag-out affair. I remember the Thanksgiving game when Mike Tomlin tripped Jacoby Jones on a kick return, and looked up at the jumbotron grinning like a cheshire cat because he knew he just took a Ravens TD off the board. I was HOWLING at the TV when that happened, because that's just how much this matchup means. I came into this game worried the Ravens might well lose. Because history taught me it didn't matter that the Steelers were on a 4-game skid or that the Ravens were on a 4-game win streak, it didn't matter that the Steelers haven't won a playoff game in a while or that the Ravens offense has been humming. Because, again, Ravens-Steelers is *always* a different type of matchup. The players have always respected this matchup and the magnitude of it. It can *always* go either way, no matter what it looks like on paper. I've never seen the Steelers play so lackadaisical and so low-effort in this rivalry. But there were multiple cases of the secondary just not rallying to the ball; TJ Watt biting on a fake to Henry, but refusing to disengage even though he surely could tell he didn't have the ball; not going for it on 4th & inches down 14. But when the Ravens ran it a dozen times on one drive for a TD, that's when it was clear the Steelers just didn't care. The Ravens whole offense this game was: 1) Henry run; 2) Lamar run; 3) checkdown to Justice Hill that still somehow goes for a first down because no one wants to tackle. I dunno. The Steelers were a 10-win team in the playoffs, but they played and coached like a 2-win team just waiting for the season to end. I'm sorry, guys. I hope next year we can get back to the old Ravens-Steelers slugfests I remember.

Im a Seahawks fan here, I was in the same predicament about Pete Carroll when we went 9-8 for 2 years and after the game against you guys last season, I knew it was time for Pete to go. I know how you guys feel. We are in the same predicament on getting over the hump since our GM wasn’t canned with the previous head coach last year. I am satisfied with Mike Macdonald and what he has done. Even though we are out of the playoffs this year, hopefully we can make the changes that is needed. I am currently sending the heat on Mr. John Schenider for not giving us a compentent offensive line and more. I see a similar situation with you guys with Coach Tomlin. I am sensing that his run with the Steelers has ran its course. My daughter wanted to watch her first Steelers playoff game with me and i got the terrible towels ready to go and never even wave it once, i told her at halftime that she could go watch something else because the game was over and that this was a horror movie that ive seen way to many times over the last 18 years. When Ben blew out his elbow in 2019 the Steelers should have tanked and not traded for Minkah because now unless they start giving up draft capital i don't know when they'll be contenders again especially if Tomlin is around.

I can't stand the Steelers. That being said, I cannot express into words how sad this is. A daughter wanting to spend time with her father sharing in a love for his favorite sports team is just so wholesome. The fact that it was ruined by an organization that just doesn't care is painful. The economics of the Nfl were played to perfection by the Steelers. Max profit with min costs are achieved when you qualify for the playoffs then lose out to NOT host the playoff game. No insurance cost. No food waste. No security and employee game day playoff costs. No cleanup crew and lunch cost for today. Covid showed how much money can be made playing the game to nobody. Amazon paid $100 million to broadcast the game. The steelers would have sold some tickets and some beer and food and merch. As the former Heinz Field money room employee, i saw how much cash was collected. I dealt with the controller and the endless discussions of how we lost money even when $1.2 million was collected. Losing road playoff games is the perfect way to maximize profits without having to pay player incentives and bonuses for winning title games and advancing to Superbowls.

The problem is, people seem to care more about Tomlin’s stat of “Never had a losing season” rather than the fact that, barring a team he basically inherited from the previous HC that he led to a Superbowl, he and the Steelers have had little to no playoff success to show for it. And considering the collapse the Steelers had after his Winning Season was secured this year, I don’t even think Tomlin cares at this point. He’s still a good coach, don’t get me wrong, but the Steelers are probably going to be stuck in this cycle until the day Tomlin leaves. I say leaves because, well, it’s the Steelers - it was a miracle they fired Matt Canada, the only way Tomlin leaves is if he decides to leave. As is, the Steelers problem is that they’re a Middle of the Pack team - not Good enough to keep up with the Elite of the League come Playoff time, not Bad enough to get a top draft pick. If they ever do move on from Tomlin, whoever takes the job will get raked over the coals if they decide to Tank…

I live close to Denver so I’ve seen Russ play a lot the past few years so I hated when we signed him and I knew this outcome was coming before the season even started and I was trying to tell people the whole year. His problems here were also his problems in Denver. Our defense had the same problems the whole year. Whenever we get new talent we don’t use them right or don’t use players when they show flashes it’s so frustrating to watch.
