Doc explains several topics on spring lawn care. Spring temps are rising so it's time for fertilizer and seeding. The temperature is what controls the process we are doing, but there are things that can be done to speed up the green.

I scalped and did a application of Humichar as well as some 10-10-10 about 3 to 4 weeks ago and today my lawn is already a deep green and I’m already having to cut every 3 to 4 days. I’ve got the only house in my neighborhood with a deep green yard. I’ve got Meyer Zoysia and I live in McDonough, GA.

I'm wondering if I should buy humichar or pgf complete. Kinda pricey to buy both. I can buy Lowe's fert that won't be as good as pgf complete but I'm thinking humichar will be great for the future. Seems like you think humichar is worth it, but I don't feel like the results would be that fast with it??

@@noahjohnson08_ I added about 200 pounds of humichar on my 5,000 sq feet over two years time. You will see results faster than what you think. If you start now you will see things like lots of worms and bird acrivity this summer. That's telling you it's working.

Feel your pain with my Zoysia here in upstate SC. But by late May every neighbor walking the neighborhood is gawking at it, especially if they step on it. “WTH… This is like ultra thick padded green carpet!” By then I’m cutting every 2-3 days. I appreciate all of Doc’s advice and a believer in The Anderson’s products. I also use several Green County sprays for humic and RGS. My ultimate goal is to reel mow but I have to do some sand leveling to get the surface I’m looking for.

First year Im going full attention, cored and two drops of fert down. Soil test has PH at 6.5 and N at optimal. Gotta work on P and K, both are low. Plan on doing full lawn renovation in fall, kill it all and full rye.

I have not bought anything yet to feed my lawn so going to get DGL and PGF. I will also get some of that Humachar however you spell it and dirt booster for this summer. moved into a place in SC all clay and weeds with bare spots it was terrible. finally getting a lawn now. its like your natural spots: rye fescue with clover. I plant the clover adds some nitrogen and helped with the runoff. next I am doing my field same thing all weeds with bare spots. no shade. going with Bahai seed wish me luck. will be needing some chemicals for that also.

I put out barricade in January and use Image post emergent a couple of times with back pack sprayer on anything that pops up. It doesn't take much effort to get it under control

Love your youtubes! Problem... I have NO IDEA what kind of grass I have. Yes, I read through your guides. I have one small patch of blue- ish grass, very fine blades... but have no idea what the rest is. Philadelphia area. It doesn't grow in "clumps". It doesn't have "off shoots".

Just moved to mid state Georgia. Just found out my grass is CENTIPEDE. Lawm looked good last summer when moving in but this spring lots of weeds and brown dry spots. Is centipede a bad type of grass? Should I use your method and this will work on centipede? Should I ever mix Bermuda ? Thank you sir you are amazing.

Love your videos, its been over 5 yrs now since I found you. I do wish there was a Canadian version of you. 😁 no offense! Almost every single brand and product as well as type of grass you talk about isn't here. The shipping of the products from USA also isnt worth the price. I have tried to take what you say and comb through it to apply it to my lawn. I get greener lawn then normal but still feel the soil is lacking.

I just mowed my grass for the first time in the year - it hit 76F today and just as you, after a few days of rain, 80s is on the menu starting next Monday. I assume this would work for us up North and our cool season grasses as well. Should we also go fertilizing or am I better to stick with the prep work? It has been raining consistently with temperatures in the low 60s and under, so was afraid to drop weed killer/pre-emergents and ended washing it up to the creek, but the sudden 80s of next week before these two days of rain are making me uncertain what would be the best path.

Hey Doc I really enjoy your videos. My new sod is about 5 1/2 mo old it was laid in the middle of winter. I have need pulling weeds since it started to green up , it is established and got my PGF complete and duocide ready to go. I have been putting down fertilizer and my grass is the greenest on the strewn and growing fast. Do I still need to wait a full season to put down pre-emergent?

I got the opposite. My lawn is brownish while my neighborhood is green. I watched your vids and lawn guide, cut super low, put out humichar and green shocker. Unfortunately 2 days later it stormed for a few days. But I’m trying to figure out what I did wrong. I got a sod Bermuda hybrid that’s just over a year old…maybe dull mower? Anyway, thank you for your vids I’m new at lawn care.

5:49 I feel your pain, our Governor Brown (Ca) stated that we had to kill off our lawns due to a 6 years drought in 2015, so my backyard looks like your old front yard, but only 800 sq ft total. G’day Doc, When applying fertilisers as a foliar spray, I remember you once said when the grass leaf is dry afterwards, foliar absorption stops, and then that’s the best time to water it in. In sunny conditions it only takes around 30-45 minutes for the foliar application to dry. However, I’ve seen other lawn care channels saying that you should leave a foliar application on the leaf for 6-12 hours, before watering in. What are your latest thoughts on this matter? Thanks.

My soil test says I am low in Nitrogen and would appreciate your input. I have the choice of using a 30-0-4 with 2% iron or a 40-0-5 with no iron. Which would be the better option and for how long should I use that ratio? My concern is if I use a high nitrogen fertilizer for too long won’t it then give me too much nitrogen in my soil? I have cool season grass and live in NJ.

Generally speaking... all lawns are low on nitrogen. We use the DGL in light coats rather than "pounding down" stronger N

Hi Doc… what should I do if I think I over applied my fertilizer? It’s been almost a month and my grass is really struggling. There’s a few strips of dark green healthy grass but most of it is light green/yellowish and not growing at all. I applied a 3-1-2 mix and tried to put 1lb per sqft but may have messed that up.. still learning my spreader setting. Local turf care company says wait another couple weeks and apply a 10-10-10.. what do you think? If Bermuda is over fertilized, will it come back? How long should I wait to fertilize again?

Doc, I'm in the same location and have a Zoyzia lawn. I have an area in the back that no longer gets full sun, the trees have grown up over the thirty years we have lived here. Mix in some type of shade and heat tolerant grass. Fescue / rye etc. Let them coexist
