I kind of think the Simpsons will always go on in some form, even after the last season. Kind of like how the Muppets, Mickey Mouse, or Loony Tunes are always still around in some form. Maybe it will be a commercial, maybe it will be rebooted as one of those 3D animated kid cartoons, or maybe it will be a live mascot like you see at Disney World. Or maybe it will actually be a Simpsons costume walking around Disney World, since they own everything. Yes, this means that, eventually, the characters would be recast, not unlike whoever currently plays Mickey Mouse or Kermit.

And thus with the end of the country it represented, the Simpsons too came to an end. As the great clown Krusty was shot, by a mere boy, a Squeeky Voiced Teen. Alas, the golden age of Springfield hath come to an end, as the donut-scented sun sets on the once-thriving city of Eldoras, where Springfield had been all along, its memories have become now but a distant echo in the minds of Middle-earth's dwellers. Farewell, dear Homer, Marge, and friends, may your legacies live on in the hearts of the Free Peoples of Middle-earth. It is as though you have gone to the Gray Havens, though there was never a hope but for one Ned Flanders that you could have done so. It was ineffibly, indolently, D'oh!ver.
