Yes this is so validating! I love how you talk about how things OUTSIDE of childhood can affect your self concept. I had a therapist who refused to acknowledge any trauma outside of childhood, which ended up being most of my unhealed wounds. Podcasts like yours have helped me on a journey of self healing without terrible therapists ❤

Wow, that’s so unfortunate 🥺 because it’s so true! Like SO many things play a role!! I’m glad I’ve been able to help you on your journey 🥰🤍

So true! Everyone always speaks about childhood and the caretakers but how about toxic boyfriends, bosses and friends, times of sickness and being broke, etc.!

You posted this on a new moon where we are naturally meant to journal, make lists and be inspired so love it haha. To me it’s special as it’s on the 11 day of the 1st month and I’ve been working on myself for months (over 2 years, but a whole new level up in the past months) so I feel it’s a fresh start. I have always had the belief I find videos and media that was meant to find me and lead me to become the best version of me and I’ve always corrected negative concepts so I adore the reinforcement. ❤ Ontario girly here too. 🥰

“Just because you need extra time does not mean that you’re not smart. It does not mean that you don’t get it. You just need to apply yourself.” 💙 Throughout high school, I was in all honors classes. Though I was in honors, I was always intimidated by everyone’s graphic memory. My friends were so smart without even trying. I would try my best in my worst subject, and would get a B or a C. They always put me down for not having an A like them. I would hear them complain about having a 96% as I looked down on my 84% test grade and be so ashamed. My insecurity climaxed at this time. I was afraid to answer questions on fear of being wrong, I was afraid to ask questions on fear of sounding dumb. But looking back now, I’m 24, I did pretty damn good in high school. I was an A and B student, in Science (my worst subject) I got a C or B but I’m proud that little me pushed through. I went to college, and there I realized all the potential I freakin have. Yes, it does take me longer to grasp a concept compared to others, but when I know it, I KNOW IT. I learned to not be ashamed that it takes me a little extra time, I just have to put in that time. When I realized how smart I could be is when my classmates were asking ME for help in Biology (Science my worst subject) because I studied so hard I confidently knew the answers and was more than happy to help them. We have so much potential, we must put in the time to flourish🪻🌷🌹🌻💙

I don’t know if anyone has thoughts on this - I tried some money affirmation meditation and it started working - like I literally started receiving random fivers on my account whenever I slept - but then I got scared. I started thinking that maybe with every dollar dropping into my account I’m losing something in another area of my life. I know the thought came because I live in Africa where people are wary of witchcraft but yeah - any thoughts? I’m kinda new to manifestation type of things. Obv I’ll do whatever feels right but perhaps there is some self concept work to do with regards to money.

Ok lil mama👏🏽 this one hits close to home regarding childhood trauma! Thanks for sharing your story, know that it’s not always easy! Key points I like: mental diet👍🏽brain dump👍🏽self concept journaling👍🏽 when I start my day well rested, up early to take a few minutes to journal,meditate/breath, make my bed and a quick walk or stretch I definitely notice the difference from when I don’t! You literally just summarized countless self-help books in this one video!! Great commentary as always!

This episode was so good and literally everything that I needed to hear and where I’m at currently in my life mentally! We have the power to create the environment and the world that we want. We first have to believe truly deep down inside that we are worthy, and we are capable. 🙌🏾

Also I’d like to hear more about your opinions on music. I like sad songs and have found it affected my self concept so have to take breaks while I overcome them. You peeked my interest.
@theglowupsecretspodcast11 ай бұрын
Such a good topic! I’ll definitely have to touch on this again 🥰🤍 taking breaks is always great, especially feeling into how it affects you 🙏🏼 seems like you’re very in tune with yourself!!!
@sourgreendolly768511 ай бұрын
I connect deeply with music so taking breaks from it isn't great for me but I've found that having playlists that end on a positive or hopeful note help a lot -even when much of it is sad or angry, as long as the story it tells doesn't end in misery. Just sharing in case you're similar.
@EmilyAlbojer11 ай бұрын
@@sourgreendolly7685 oh I listen to music all day long. It was just choosing to avoid certain songs that would always make me cry or linger.. I have started to always balance with positive songs though like you are suggesting when I feel the urge to listen or if they shuffle to the sad ones. 💕 I truly am almost at that strong place where I am healed and can simply appreciate the beauty in those songs encapsulating my past pain. I don’t ignore my trauma (to heal I do feel and face it) but I just can’t live in it. 😊

Hey Elicia, how do you choose what you want to talk about and how do you filter through what conversations you’re gonna have? I feel like it’s so hard to talk about personal life in general, not because you’ll be judged by things per se, but because you put yourself out there and be vulnerable. Whenever I have to talk about my shiit and problems and things I struggle with, I feel like I don’t know how to behave😅
