I recognised an Aussie twang in Chris' speech and Googled him. He was born in Darwin, of all places, and originally competed in the bobsleigh for Australia. Having read his bio, I can see why he was so open about the fact that you can end up on your head: "He was involved in a catastrophic crash in January 2012 during the 2011-12 Bobsleigh World Cup in Altenberg, Germany which put him in hospital for eight days. After having his skin shredded and a piece of wood the size of a kitchen knife embedded in his back, Spring considered retiring but later returned to the track in April 2012."

You have similar experiences available in all of the ¿dozen? professional ice tubes around the World There is one in every recent Olympic venue (Whistler, Sochi, Pyeongchang and Yanqing), one in many older Olympic venues (Salt Lake City, Nagano, La Plagne, Lake Placid and Calgary), 2 originally meant to train commies (Altenberg and Sigulda), 3 more in Germany out of pure obsession (Winterberg, Oberhof and Konigssee) and the granddad of them all in Sankt Moritz, which is the only one that isn't made of concrete and way too many refrigeration tubes

@@DanArnets1492 The Königssee one would probably be the easiest for me to reach, but the track was destroyed in a landslide earlier this year, which is a shame. Innsbruck could work as well though.

I can’t believe I’ve been to a place Tom Scott has been. I stayed in the Olympic village, and it was awesome. If you have the money/ time, I would recommend it to anyone who loves winter sports. I did the bobsled, dog sledding, and had the best ski trip of my life. Truly an awesome place

The only thing I want more after this is a full length POV video going down that track. Yes please, TYVM.

The full length of the track is insanely difficult, and far more forceful than the Sliding Centre would allow non-trained individuals on without massive risk. I would believe there is footage on YT here somewhere of the full course.

Great way to end out the year and this run of videos, including the whole team. That POV shot from the bob is incredible to watch too! Well done for all the work put into this channel, I’ve loved following along. Favourite is the Alton Towers one, that’s a frickin’ masterpiece of a video. I also really liked coffee with James, ice cream with Barry and cycling with Mike.

I know you're taking a break now, but if this ever continues into the future, I would absolutely love to see you try fencing. From all of your other videos, you have the exact attitude of every fencer on my team when they concede a point: "Gah! That's what I did wrong!", and then continuing despite bodily harm and pain with just pure determination

I love that Tom is trying out and experiencing so many of the things I've always wanted to do but sadly can't due to illnesses and disability. Thanks Tom for having this channel be your "I'm curious about trying/checking out..." channel as it seem to be the source of a great sense of joy for you but also because it somehow makes me feel better in times I'm bummed that I'll never have a chance to full fill a particular dream of mine. Happy you're living the life you wish to have.

I wonder if the crew knew a bit of the history of their driver , Chris Spring , and his traumatic bobsled accident of January 2012 during a practice run in Germany. Bobsled hit the roof and even took out part of it. Didn't know if he'd be able to work up the nerve to pilot a sled again, be responsible for the crew, but he did just weeks later and he said he feels the accident made him a better driver.
