The episode "Day of the Dove" can be summed up with: 'fight the spirit of war, not your fellow man or Vulcan or Klingon or...'

A fantastic line to be sure. So many wars seems to involve fighting in a place already devoid of value and falling apart at the seams. That kind of line could solve some world violence.

@@kathrynck You think Klingons are devoid of wisdom? They have an honor-based warrior culture, but that doesn't make them fools. The conflicts between the Klingons and the Federation in the days of TOS were mainly over resources or cultural misunderstandings. To provide an analogy, ancient Egyptians were obsessed with hygine; they would typically shave off head- and body-hair, and often would wear scented wax cones on their heads, secured to the meager head hair they allowed themselves. Helenic Greek culture, on the other hand, were not as hygine-obsessed, allowing head-hair and beards to grow, and they preferred the 'natural scents' of the human body over cloying perfumes. When Alexander the Great visited the Egyptians, both the Greeks and Egyptians were highly offended by the smell of the other party.

TOS was about morality plays. We need them back
@willt3223 Жыл бұрын
what moral now is different. you can be jailed for being christian and using the wrong pronounds (ireland look it up)
@keithtorgersen9664 Жыл бұрын
@Will T, I am a Christian too, and I understand how you feel. But in this case what I believe Michael is referring to is television programming in which there is a clear lesson and moral responsibility portrayed in an episode. Lots of television shows used to be this way. But for years now there’s been a negative paradigm shift drifting toward nihilism, where no one really cares about moral lessons and responsibility, just drama.

Just about the most sadistic alien creature ever featured in TOS. It kills most of the Klingons on one starship, pits those that are left against a basic number of Enterprise officers and crew, outfits them with slice & dice weapons, and sends the whole hot mess rocketing out of the galaxy. Savage!

There's some debate over whether Engineering is in the rear of the saucer section or in the secondary hull, and some fans have examined the many clues and conflicting documents in detail. The shot of the alien passing out of engineering and moments later emerging from the secondary hull is one clue pointing to its location.
@fazole3 жыл бұрын
The secondary hull makes more sense, but the impulse engines are located at the rear of the saucer. I'm pretty sure that un the Enterprise refit, engineering is in the secondary hull do to the warp core being there.

Not a very smart alien. It only had to wait a few more minutes for the dilithium crystals to go kaput and the Federation and Klingons would be stranded on the Enterprise for all eternity to provide endless gladiator games. Instead it chickened out over a couple of laughs and bailed out right before it got a lifetime subscription to DirecTV's galactic sports package.
