Awesome song! Love the contrast between the heavy chug and the melodic runs. Love that you were able to bring the full song into fruition! I can really relate with having songs slowly form themselves over the years. I've got several riffs from years ago that I'll come back to every so often and develop it into something more (or turn it into something completely different!)

Can someone please tell me how to do that upwards "harmonic-sou ding" string rake that everyone is doing these days.? I can kinda get it on fret 2, but I notice Pete is pulling it off on occasion with his fretting hand higher up the neck than that. Does it come from the picking hand, like a pinch harmonic.? Any help would be appreciated. It's such a tiny quick little technique, but Ive just loved it ever since I first heard it and would love to incorporate it into my own writing.
@peteplaysmusic6 ай бұрын
I do it mostly around the 5th fret but it can be done almost anywhere on the fretboard. Think of it as a ‘muted harmonic’ it’s similar to a natural harmonic except you mute the strings with your fretting hand. With your fretting hand, play a natural harmonic with your pinky and rest your other 3 fingers on the string at the same time to mute it. It’s important not to press too hard. With your picking hand just drag the pick through the strings as normal. Hope that makes sense? :)

Being in music for a long time I've seen artists say this took so many years to finish. It's such a bullshit way to mark progress on a riff idea into a song. It's basically a way to say since it took so long it'll be this great and wonderful work of art and quite often the opposite is true. So if you had to clock in and out on the amount of time it actually took to "write" the song what are we looking at? A couple weeks worth of actual hours it took to make? Good tune, not knocking it at all, my only critique would be the drums are boring and the song would be better served by hiring an actual online drummer rather than programming them. So many great drummers for hire online and will cut a track In a day or two and usually give you 3 passes to choose from and I've paid anywhere from 100 dollars per song to 500 dollars per song so it's not expensive to do at all and the results are so much better than programmed drums. A drummer could've taken all those riffs to the next level and made the song come out of that "KZbin guitarist programs boring drums behind A killer riff niche" that plagues most YT guitarists. ESPECIALLY in metal, drums make the song. You can have a great riff all day long but if the drums are shit the riffs suffer and for me that's what's going on here. It'd be interesting to hear this redone with a real drummer, no triggers, a real drummer, real drums played and recorded with mics to see how much better this song could be. It deserves real drums. 🤘😎🤘

We never finish a song, we abandon it because we can't make it better. That's a wonderful composition, I think every musician has a project or a song they constantly come back to. I myself have one particular song which holds me for more than ten years, even after I recorded it twice.

Guitars could've used a lot more high end and presence, since they sound so muffled. And the drums sound distant and disconnected from the guitars. Otherwise a nice tune.

The drums sound super unrealistic. Quantized to 100%. Sounds like a bunch of riffs not connected very well.
