Lmao the tone shift from episode 3 to episode 4 is CRAZY. But episode 4 is so good and so well done. It’s honestly my favorite of the season. It’s messed up but it covers such important topics and really lets you see past Angel’s mask and bravado. This episode made him my favorite character tbh.

Oooh I totally agree! I think Angel was in love (or thought he was in love) with Valentino tbh! I think Val found him and love bombed him and gained his trust and then charmed Angel into signing. My only reasoning for this is 1) the lyrics from Addict - “you fell in love but you fell deeper in this pit”, 2) We know that Fat Nuggets was a gift from Val, which makes me think he showered Angel in love and affection and gifts, 3) the lyrics from Poison - “Spewin all your red hot lies” and “I can only blame myself”, and 4) Angel signed his name with a heart.

I think it may be related to Angel's drug addiction. Notice that the voice message in one of the previous was about being an addict, Val's powers seem to be smoke related (which also showed up at the voice message part), and then there's also the lyrics of Angel's songs.

@@Lotan_ YES I’ve been thinking about this even more and like. I think it’s now a large theory that it’s actually Val’s saliva that is addictive. If you watch the poison vid again, it distinctly shows Val biting Angel during sex. There’s also a brief clip with his long tongue dripping saliva after we see Angel is nowhere close to sober. People are also throwing around the idea that Val’s saliva is used as an ingredient in Velvettes love potions or whatever. I think Addict shows the first time Angel and Val met in the beginning. Like Val paid to watch Angels show at a strip club and then targeted Angel. I think Angel was living in a crappy apartment and was hating his life (the flashes to him crying and Cherri comforting him). And then Val started love bombing and taking him out. Angel and Val mess around, Angel not knowing about the saliva thing. Val gets him addicted and convinces him to sign his contract. Now he has him trapped not only by his soul but also in his addiction to Val. He starts cutting back on the affection. Angel starts getting more desperate and upset as everything starts to unravel. Eventually, Angel wants out and knows that Val doesn’t care about him, but he can’t escape. He lives at the studio, so he is always under Val’s thumb. But now we’re making progress. Angel moves out to the hotel, creating some distance from the source of his addiction and his abuser. Angel gains support in the form of friends, but especially in Husk. Having that support has given him the confidence to put some boundaries in place and stand up to Val. Holy hell. I can’t wait to see how they handle this all next season.

Unfortunately, stories like Angel's aren't uncommon in the porn industry. There's a lot of nightmare level shit in it. I don't think there are any unions for sex workers in general, especially since the societal stigma and legal discrimination against them is still very real. With Husker, him sharing his own personal issues was to show Angel that, despite the rough first impression, he could open up to him about how tough things are for them. Which yeah, problem olympics doesn't solve anything, but hearing about other people's problems can help put things into perspective, and help people not to feel totally alone in it, depending on how it's done. He didn't share to try and overshadow Angel, which is the important distinction.

There’s no union but they’re are reps (in California) otherwise all actors are under personal contracts. As far as I know it used to be like this back in the 90s but today it’s a lot better because there are so many people who could do it so it’s not worth getting worked up over one actor
