I’m just a mid level engineering manager….How people have businesses but don’t know the difference between gross and net is terrifying.

I’m sure I saw an interview with Richard Branson once where he said he didn’t know the difference between the two 20 years into his business career or something wild. I don’t get it either

Rick Rubin said he doesnt know the first thing about making or teaching music, he just goes with what sounds good Knowing labels and names for things is less important than knowing how to do it I don't think this guy in the video knows how to do it well, but Rick Rubin and Branson seem to have it figured out pretty well

Old engineering axiom, you can't control anything until you have a way of measuring it.

Should I hire an accountant or make my wife learn how to do it then become our accountant… is that honestly a question

Also, just getting an accounting degree doesn’t make you qualified to be the sole accountant for an org. Need some experience first.

This guy gives crazy red flag “I control my wife” vibes. She doesn’t get her own salary? You’re going to make her get an accounting degree? Wtf man

His wife's salary should be issued separately. That way she gets credit through Social Security. If they lump it all into his salary, she will not get the credits for her own work. It would be a good idea for her to work elsewhere if that's what's happening so that her wages will count towards her work and towards her social security benefits later. It's a file a joint tax return and all of their income is listed under his name, she will get credit for none of it.

Do you really believe social security will be around in 10 years?😃

Yes, social security will be around in even 50 years. Without any change people will still get 80% of current benefits.

That's the exact question they asked thirty years ago, @@michaelscordo256and twenty years ago. As well as ten years ago. Fortunately, it's that question that drove me to be sure to never need it. Now it's like winning the lottery each month😊

Her social security will be from her husband’s income if he made more than she did, and if they were married over ten years.

It surprises me that he got to 1.7m gross revenue without an accountant. A bit disturbed that his go-to was to get the wife trained for the job, and it sounds like she wants to do something else anyway.
