The only logical way this would happen is if we could find a group of billionaires who would fund every trucker in America and pay his wages while we boycott the industry, demanding increased wages until laws are put in. All of the country would suffer so i reckon it wouldn’t take long. Of course assuming each driver in America is paid 500$ a day it would cost 1.75 B per day to compensate us lol. I’d give it 3-4 days before America crumbles and drivers finally get what they want. Bezos could do it lol

A 99 FLD($15k-$20k) will make you as much money as a 2021 389($120,000+) Geez guys, buy a used truck, get it road ready and get your own authority. Oh and the pre emissions engines on them require maintenance and minor repairs, most issues you can get away with a bypass/quick fix til you get to your mechanic. Not like the new engines that leave you powerless over a stupid code.
@SkilledEddie
@SkilledEddie 3 жыл бұрын
Get your own authority and hope to make it your first year because of high insurance costs and most brokers wont work with new authorities so you will pull cheap freight most likely. If everyone goes out and gets their authority with 1 truck it just drives rates down more.

You are speaking the Gospel Truth. I wish would have known this back when I was 27 and leased my first and last truck for a carrier that was bought out by Swift. I sacrifice alot chasing that pipe dream wanted to buy the truck after my four year Lease . I was paying these jokers 4k a month in the lease and after I found out I have to drop an additional 60k to buy the truck, I was pissed. My marriage was over with because I stayed out thinking I was going to buy the truck and run local in Houston. But now I'm 38 now been in this game for 15 years now currently as a company driver. I made the decision if I wanted to buy a truck. I will buy it outright or finance Fuck a lease!! Great video!!!

So you didn’t read your contract and that’s the company’s fault? Every single lease purchase has a balloon payment at the end just a small amount of research would’ve told that. The big problem is people come in not knowing anything about business don’t manage/budget their money and don’t know what it takes to run or repair their truck. Leasing does make the companies money and do rip us off with high interest and payments which is why you need to be smart with your money and stay out of debt. I was an owner op for almost 10 years with my own authority and failed. Went as a company car hauler for 5 years and now leased and doing way better after I’ve learned the hard way. Leasing is a good opportunity just takes a lot of hard work and dedication. I’m almost done and will own this truck.

Everyone says lease programs are horrible. For MOST they are. Because just like he explains, most guys just jump in without any knowledge. They hear they can make more than a company driver, and are told they can go home whenever they want, and they’re hooked. Don’t read the lease contract. Don’t realize the truck payment still comes out when they go home for an entire week. Don’t realize they’re responsible for EVERYTHING on that truck. Don’t realize the actual costs of normal wear and tear issues like tires which aren’t cheap and you have 10 of them and two of those HAVE to be virgins. These guys just see dollar signs and throw the rest out the window.

After the first six months of the 8 1/2 years of driving, I found that I trust inmates more than truck drivers. Saying all that, this man is telling you the straight-shit. Leasing isn’t for the stupid and lazy. I owned my own truck for the last 3 1/2 years of my driving experience. Yes, I took an occasional vacation. But I ran my butt off to cover my overhead: fuel, tows, repairs, maintenance and expenditures. I’ve had lean times, making a few hundred a week to making 3-4K net a week... albeit rare. In those times where you make extra jingle, you don’t go out on a spending spree; you put money away EVERY WEEK for a rainy day. And there is always rain. Do your homework. This man is smart. He knows what he’s talking about.

@Chosen Destiny whenever you are a true owner operator vs a lease operator $6-5k is the average before fuel. I can make $1800 hauling fuel as a company driver and home often to daily.

He's spot on! I did lease maintenance at WTI and Lease Purchase. I made way more money under the lease maintenance program than I did for the lease purchase. Found a gig with a guy out of Mississippi. I was grossing in between $8k-$16k a week. Bringing home about $1,800-$3,000 a week. Then I was able to buy my first truck. I didn't make that kind of money in the lease truck. But like bro said, your gross be so high, so others it'll seem like you're making a lot of money. You are grossing and buying your company new trucks and equipment. But you're only bringing home anywhere between $35k-$65k a year.

In other words, for those that don’t understand,….you can’t have a lot of personal debt responsibilities to be able to afford the truck, and everything that else goes with that while have any quality of life. Don’t work for the truck, let the truck work for you! Save your money, put yourself in an equity situation at first, and you will have a better upper hand. There are enough things on the open road to prohibit success so don’t start off on the negative side.

Don’t get me wrong this brother has a lot of knowledge but the one thing that people may not understand is he’s talking about trying to buy out lease trucks. I don’t recommend trying to buy them out. Ride that lease and make that owner operator pay and walk away from that lease and go buy your own truck from the dealership from the money you saved up from the lease contract. Leverage the lease to use as a stepping stone. Just don’t plan on buying out the lease. This makes it win win for you and the company. The company is making money from the truck and your making owner operator money from the truck. Once you walk away with full pockets the company passes your old lease truck to another driver and restarts the process. Learn the game and know the game and then leverage the game to your favor.

He's a 100% right I lost my first truck due to engine problems had to start all over with leasing and I made it work in the end I end up getting a brand new engine new transmission install no cost to me because the dealer didn't do the work right and I made it to the end and when it came time to get my title the company was actually disappointed that I got my title they want you to stay in debt.

Real-time information is available, to make an educated decision on the company you want to work for, or with. Most companies do NOT want you to be ‘aware’. I loved driving truck. But, my father-in-law said, ‘my daughter will not be married to a truck driver’. He was a police officer, and, I said, ‘well, Jim, I’m in my 30s, no academy will take me’. Unfortunately, he knew people. I made less money being a police officer than as a truck driver. Now, I’m retired, watching truck driver videos.

I really appreciate his truth, I remember when I was trucking in 2007 and leased with a major company, I was making $27k a month, at $.89 a mile I averaged $1100 a week, though with a second seat, my truck payment was $900 a week, plus other expenses, I didn't complain, I was fresh out of school, I appreciated the opportunity, he is right you have to stay out there, because you have weekly payments. Thank you for this video.

Thanks, My Man!! I've been driving for UPS roughly going on a year. I have been asking around trying to completely understand how other trucking companies work because we are on a completely different system. Every time I tell someone who I work for their tone changes. I ask for a number of reasons. 1. I shouldn't be working in a field without understanding the ins and outs of the business outside of my bubble. 2. We have had co-workers quit based on these half-truths mentioned by other drivers.
