There needs to be criminal charges brought up. Much of this went unreported until it was too late. Aren't you tired of this? Aren't you tired of all the corruption? Why are laws only applicable to some?

As a Hawaii resident and former military member for four decades, I applaud you Lt. Commander Bencs for 'standing up' for what's right...to many members just blindly obey and fall in line.

The locals know this has been happening for years. Even way before she learned about it. It only got publicity after military families said something. This is what happens when officials choose money over people.

Whatever happens now, her Naval career is quasi over, she spoke the truth, the Military don't like that. Some very high-ranking officers need to be fired, without a golden handshake, and Court-martialed.

They'll force her out by sending her to a different base where conditions are far worse, and her orders will be constantly undermined/dismissed.

The commanders kept acting all insulted about our worries of leaks, all the while leaks were happening with them trying to sweep it under the rug. Disgusting. Don't act insulted when you know our worries were justified. Sue the buggas!

Hawaii people need to stop supporting rich people from states and started propping up there own people and fix the state. Not sure why anyone would trust the government after what they did or didn't do after during fires.

Really? It’s all because she’s a woman? Really? It has nothing to do with the Navy simply not wanting to pay up or give attention to anything they need to fix. All the way from Red Hill to military housing. But this low ranking officer was only not having the navy fix the issue only because the reporting officer also happens to be a woman. Funny to even make that an issue.

Protect whistleblowers and change the organizational culture and behavior that silences and intimidates with compliance and silence to be a "good team player". Upstream interventions decrease downstream costs of quality of life. This! This is the embodiment of the public health motif that drives and honors protective care. Brah, a worthwhile return. on. impact. and interventions for risk management. Canaries, single ones and more compelling, multiple canaries in coal mines should signal ecosystem wide threats, to all those who share basic needs. Our island ecosystem is so compact, effects ripple loudly and impacts are amplified so we can see those ripples as waves. It's informative and precautionary, not to be belittled diminished poo-pooed, swept under a rug. Lose money dis kine. More importantly, lose faith in the organization and government in sharing the same interests in serving society. Cynicism that is proven in patterns of behavior, patterns of contemporaneous notes and patterns of documentation, ripple and undermine faith in those who hold those pillars of the organization together. Piece together why there is so much political disillusionment. Actions that undermine rhetoric and written policy and law.
