A truly unique player based on the fact he is from the country which strong suit is historically Defense and producing World Class defenders if not the best. Blessed with flair, agility, low center of gravity, creativity and what we in Latin America called "buena gambeta". With all due respect as as great as Del Piero and Totti were they couldn't match this man's skillet in my personal opinion. His multiple knee injuries/surgeries tore him down but still left a lasting legacy for us football purists.

If only he converted and the last brazil player also converted, Brazil would still win but Baggio's name will be remembered differently. Casual fans to this day still know him only for that miss, unfortunately.

1986 to 1998 was the peak of world football despite the earlier escapades of Pele and after Cruyff.The era of the great Maradona in 1986 to the youthful Ronaldo Dalima in 1998 marked the beginning and end of the peak of world football .After that great players still came up like Zidane, Rivaldo, Figo,Ronaldinho later on Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo but the quality of football was no longer at its best.

@@essengomakassi5538 2000's were not bad but they were not as good as the 80's and 90's. Even the players we talk about in the 2000's like Zidane, Rivaldo,Ronaldinho began their careers in the 90s.Rivaldo and Ronaldinho for example were part of the Brazilian team that won Copa America in 1999 , Zidane had won the world cup with France in 1998. Look at the quality of teams in the 90's and 2000's, you see that the 90's were better. You can also compare the world cup of 1998 and that of 2002. 1998 world cup had better quality teams than 2002. I remember teams like Holland with the likes of Bergkamp Overmars,Jaap Stam, Croatia with the likes of Davor Suker who demolished Germany 3 to 0 in the quarter finals, Denmark with the likes of Michael Laudrap who almost shocked the champions Brazil in the quarter FINALS All these quality teams had disappeared by the time we had the 2002 world cup and up coming teams like Turkey and South Korea who reached the Semifinals in the 2002 world cup were not as good ad the Semifinalists of the 1998 world cup(which were Croatia, Holland, France).Even the Brazil of 2002 which became champions was not better than the 1998 Brazil team which ended up as runners up against France but were lucky that the 2002 world cup had weaker teams. That is why I conclude that 1986-1998 was the peak of world football.

For me, Baggio was the right side of Maradona.. Baggio really the resemblance of Diego.. Maradona will always the best for me.. Followed respectively by Baggio & Ronaldo Nazario..

@@SiouplaitMerci No, Del Piero non era paragonabile a Baggio se non forse fino a prima dell' infortunio. Poi è rimasto solo un ottimo giocatore ma non un fenomeno. Anche Totti e Di Natale sono stati più forti di Del Piero. I numeri parlano chiaro... Il migliore resterà sempre quel signore con il codino ed il n.10 sulla maglia, il tutto giocando con una gamba con oltre 200 punti di sutura interni, non c'è semplicemente storia!

@@SiouplaitMerci Platini non l' ho visto abbastanza per riuscire a compararlo a Baggio. Se ci fermiamo ai soli numeri, considerato la carriera più lunga, sceglierei comunque Baggio ma ripeto che è una valutazione fatta sui soli numeri.
