I had one of these on an 02 plate. I spent time and money to get the vehicle up to a good standard. Continues maintenance is the key to these Discoveries. Mine took us all over Europe towing a heavy caravan and never let us down, she was on 85,000 miles when I sold her. Chassis rust is the killer for these, find a good one and they will go on and on. Yours did not not have the sunroof so no loss there as they always leak, I sealed mine up. I now have a D4 Discovery bought new in 2016 this D4 has given me some problems but it's an awesome vehicle is the D4.

My own experience started on a 2011 Mercedes sprinter, 16 months after treating the bumpers and trim there was no fading whatsoever and when I sold the vehicle earlier this year I didn't need to ree treat. Since then I've used it on my current vehicles again with success. One significant plus point compared to other products is it seems to resist petrol and diesel when dry so works farr better than other products that disolve where you get fuel drips under the filler cap etc. A little goes a very long way, the trick is to use it really sparingly with a quality paint paint brush then wipe off after the dwell time (from memory 15mins or so)

Pursuit was the end of production run along with the Landmark which had leather and higher spec. Pursuits are popular among the devotees to D2s as they don’t have sunroofs, which eliminates the wet floors and footwell rot that you get with sunroof models. Only downside to the late D2’s was the chassis, they were terrible, and not as good as the earlier D2’ or D1’s. Great truck though, super job on it and unicorn rare low miles!!

What do you mean check the head and injectors? Im not sure what check you can do on injectors other then take out and send for someone to test on a rig. And head would have to come off. As its running and driving well, no smoking, no overheating you don't go stripping down without there being a problem
@silktvPDR12 жыл бұрын
@@ChopsGarage in the first video you stated the engine oil was high. This is the most common and obvious sign on the TD5 that the injector seals are leaking causing diesel to leak into the sump. The other cause and also very common is the head developes hairline cracks again causing diesel leakage into the oil. With both the engine seems fine then the engine runs on and speeds up running on the oil mix until it destroys itself. If you don't want to disturb the engine then at least have the oil sampled and checked for diesel %. The mileage is spot on for this too 80k was the warning.

Looks nice and tidy now.These cars dont have a good reputation though.I think they use the air suspension thats a headache if it fails and the engines are not the best of the bunch.I like them as a vehicle but an old one would probably not consider to be honest.They also suffer rotted chasis rails and bad electrics.On the bright side this one seems ok but knowing what I know would not buy buts thats just me.Very poular and in full fitness very good machines to fair but even the TD has a bad drinking habit by todays prices of diesel.The mix of an agricultural vehicle and a car you can zip up a motorway in will always be a bit of a compromise I suppose which you could argue a 1970,s Range Rover was back then even.Those cars are worth alot now for a good one but again they had the 3.5 v8 which is not so much in favour now for obvious reasons.Even a rover sd1 with a 2.3 or 2.6 are getting better money than a 3.5.
