Great job on the repair and reassembly. No way I would have tried to put the head back on by myself. I recently helped assemble a new Jet floor model drill press that has the same style rack. Total PITA. That spring is somebody's add-on. No idea what it's for. Be prepared to look up speeds and feeds and adjust the belts accordingly. The belts don't need to be real tight. I just push on the motor with my bare hand and snug up the tensioner bolt. Overtightening doesn't make anything work better; just makes the belts and bearings run hotter. The factory quill handles are MUCH longer, as in too long. Yours look to be about the right length for most applications. The originals get in the way often and I find myself having to remove one or two of them at times. As long as you got the motor shaft parallel to the mill's column the motor mount is fine. No need to replace or rebuild it. Someone has apparently used the "bigger hammer" approach on this machine in the past in multiple areas and I would bet that the motor mount was among them. Stefan Gotteswinter has a video on tuning up import tooling like R-8 collets to work as well as the high priced ones. It's worth checking out; might save some bucks. Enjoy your machine!

Since it has been repowered, I will just change the belt to each pulley and measure the rpm’s. Then I won’t be guessing

The plate the motor is on seems to thin to hold that motor

I think it might be. I’ll try it and see. Might have to make a new one. Hope it works well enough to use the drill press to make the new one if it needs it
