To be fair, the Italian food take has a grain of truth to it. Most cultural foods are a product of the historically available ingredients in the area. Especially before the industrial revolution and globalization of trade, most people could only afford whatever ingredients could be easily produced locally. If the average person can only get access to beef, cheese, flour, and tomatoes, a lot of your cultural dishes will be made with beef, cheese, flour, and tomatoes.

As someone who was raised with pretty close contact to the Italian side of my family, I can definitely refute the point all Italian food is the same ingredients. Polenta, Osso Buco, and Arancini are all traditional Italian foods that aren’t just bread tomato meat. I will admit that Italian cooking has a set of like 10-15 key ingredients that are common, but that doesn’t make all Italian food the same combinations of those ingredients.

also nah, you actually do need to add cultures to make yoghurt and you warm it up a bit to allow it to set, chilling it just slows the culture down so it keeps its consistency. plain yoghurt and sour cream are different, as cream is a milk by-product and yoghurt is the milk itself but after being exposed to a yoghurt culture for a day or two.

The problem with Coney's take on Italian cuisine is not that it's not all made with similar ingredients, it's the idea that you can't make something unique out of the same ingredients. There's a lot of smaller things that go into each dish prepared in different ways that create something that is more than the sum of its parts. While a pasta dish and pizza may share many of the same fundamental ingredients, your taste buds don't pick out each ingredient. The subtlety of manipulating ingredients in cooking to create a holistic flavor is what makes it an art.

If we’re going by Coney’s logic by picking apart each word of the statement to determine if it’s a fact or opinion, the Italian food argument is 100% an opinion. Chicken Alfredo does not have the same ingredients as spaghetti and meatballs. They’re fundamentally the same, but the ingredients are different (different sauce and different source or protein). By this man’s logic, he could rearrange the order of how spaghetti & meatballs are made and he’ll eventually get chicken Alfredo…which makes absolutely no sense.

I think when it came to Toadstool Tour and Power Tennis, the games had such a charm and goofy attributes around it but the games themselves were cornerstones for Mario Sports. Power Tennis and Toadstool Tour have the cool intro of Wario and Waluigi wanting to win in a tournament setting. The minigames are wacky and can entertain a wide variety. With Tennis Aces and Golf Super Rush, the movement toward a clean UI and decent gameplay takes away most of the fun. That's why I find myself playing older Mario Sports games even though I can't play often with others.

I think when it comes to the mario sports games, the more modern ones are missing that "chaotic fun" feel. I feel like we look back on old mario tennis being a lot of fun because of the items and crazy maps you could play on not just the story mode cups. The newer mario golf game came close with super rush mode but even that felt like it was missing the special touch old mario sports game had.
