I always buy my evoo at specialized stores, never from grocery stores, with the only exception of a few Chilean or Spanish brands that grow their own orchards. It makes a whole world of a difference in taste and quality. Great video!

The problem is with the brands that mix sources. Italian brands do this the most. They get fake oil at a cheaper price from other places and then still sell it full price. Always buy one source like Partana which is scicilian. I’ve never seen a Spanish brand with mixed sources.

@@snow40741 If you use as much as I do You can get it in big cans on Amazon. If you want the small bottle I get them at WalMart Ive tried the unfiltered and the regular cold press in the red label. That is the one I prefer. If youve never had real olive oil , get ready for a treat. Get a big loaf of french bread and dip it. You will love it. The black peppery taste on the back of your throat will let you know it is authentic. And it will make you cough. Ive seen two olive oil taste testers actually joking with one another about how many coughs they give each different brand. And FYI California Olive Ranch is real oil also. I use the red label of that one also . Bon appetit

@@wanderdworld thank you...i am somewhat familiar with that peppery taste...I purchased olive oil from Vito & Joe Bolio...their father has a vineyard in Puglia and he has a youtube cooking channel.. So I want to try another brand of good quality oil...thank you for sharing! 11/15/20 Hi Wonderland...I found the bottle at my local Walmart (NJ) ...I had to look up at the top shelf to find it..the label says it all..the region/harvest date it was $15.98, it was the most expensive oil they had...which I don't think it is, I have paid more and have seen more pricer oils...I look forward to using it today with my vegetables..Thank you

Good olive oil cost at least 35 $ per litter.
@stevebardella_farm-nature7bis
@stevebardella_farm-nature7bis 3 жыл бұрын
A robbery. The bottle must be at least gold plated. 35 dollars, the right price of an oil (real extra virgin) EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL is obtained as it is from the pressing of the olives. Its free acidity (expressed in grams of oleic acid per 100 grams of oil) does not exceed 0.8 grams per 100 grams (0.8%). Furthermore, in the Panel test (organoleptic examination) it is free from defects, with positive fruity notes. The oil trade is very profitable, there have been companies (and there will still be some) that buy cheap oil from Tunisia or sometimes from Greece, and pass it off as Italian. example: https: //www.youtube.com/watch? v = H8ry17y80b4

I think another problem with we humans is we want to eat local.. but really its almost impossible.. in the old days.. if you were an olive oil producer the majority of your oil was sold locally. it didnt travel far... today we want italian oil as far as New Zealand, USA, or China.. there is such a huge demand for oil with big producers now running out of stock.. they cant get their hands on enough olives locally.. so now we see "italian" brands with olives coming from mulitple countries. multiple producers.. yes, it has the made in italy label but the products come from abroad.. brought to italy.. bottle in italy.. shipped from italy. the olives have traveled from greece, or portugal from selected farms.. already travelled domestically. then put on boats. then traveled again in italy to the factory.. then processed.. then bottled.. then traveled back to the port.. then shipped to NZ or NYC.. then travels again to the store... this process when you finally open the OIL in your house.. wont be like.. arriving in italy in a small town.. a local farmer producing oil.. milling it locally and bottling it in say, September or october.. buy that!!! but goodluck.. they dont sell it locally... locally in the supermarkets are big brands like Dececco .

look for single origin olives.. meaning.. check the bottles to see if its MADE IN ITALY.. but the olives come from multiple countries.. spain, greece and portugal for example.. then bottled in italy.. not great! look for a farm who have their own olives.. a mill which is local.. and they bottle it local... check for harvest dates.. the best olive oils will be bought fresh in november or december.. the fresher the better...

EVOO (cold-pressed) is what we want. 6 Tips for Recognizing Real EVOO How do we know if our oil is the real thing and not part of the olive oil fraud? 1. Do not buy light olive oil or a blend; it isn’t virgin quality. 2. When EVOO costs less than $10 a liter it may not be authentic oil. 3. Real oils are sold in dark bottles, as this protects the oil from oxidation. Look for that. 4. Look for a seal from the International Olive Oil Council (IOC) 5. Look for a harvesting date on the label. 6. It can get old and rancid. A simple test for a good oil is to taste a little on a spoon. Not rancid, the real oil will have a fruity taste in the front of your mouth and a peppery taste in the back of your mouth. Then you know it is not a fake olive oil.

Bits and pieces of info but not a true story, leaving many gaps to wonder about: What they did with the fly What they did with the bacteria What kinds of olive oils these Italian producers make after the EVOO, e.g. pomace oil, virgin oil, light oil The tester did not explain how a rancid oil smells or tastes !!! He just said it did He did not say where the oil he tasted as rancid came from, bec the viewer is led to believe it’s from one of the Italian producers the reporter interviewed (the young man and the lady) !!! Until they give this info, this video is not informative and confusing/misleading at best

You can still see today I have seen chemical products sprinkled on plants and not by small companies or individuals, but by companies of a certain weight and no longer Italian but foreign, and chemicals are very harmful to health, much less than a larva. Then you talk to me about olive oil by mentioning Tunisia, without talking about how it is grown, stored and how this is in what state of hygiene it is shipped and marketed.

Sorry, but you need to be properly informed, Italy is scamming you saying that the olive oil that they sell is made in Italy because is not, it's made in Spain. They buy excellent olive oil from Spain ( 60% of all the production of all the country) and mix it with low quality Italian olive oil, put a sticker on it and they sell it as excellent Italian olive oil. Spain is number one world producer at the world in quantity and quality, Italy can only dream to be the half of the half as good as Spain. but one thing is true they know how to lie to the consumers. They are doing the same as Asian countries do to the US honey producers. But misinformed consumers still thinking they are buying the best and know nothing about olive oil when they say Italian olive oil is the best, it is a plain and simple lie. You are welcome.
