"Now if you fortunate enough to have a Steve of your own" Way to do me like that. I just wanted to learn a bit about Rapiers, not being reminded of my loneliness ;-;

Rapers are such awesome weapons. They look cool too.

I've been fighting rapier in the SCA for 5 years. This video is definitely going into my new-people-101 tool belt. Thanks for the great video!

Awesome HEMA tutorial for beginners! Thanks 🙏🏼

The similarities the Italian Rapier guards has compared to saber guards is uncanny…the only differences however, is the attack of the rapier primarily focuses on the thrusts while the saber focuses on cuts.

Prima or 1rst guard is used when you carry a shield, and corsairs, that trained in the Italian system, knew that.

More Rapier would be good. Also you should consider getting on some Alt websites. Patreon and KZbin are getting more and more hostile to anything related to weapons, martial arts, or history. Wouldn’t hurt to have backups set up.

Steve's last name wouldn't be "Pell," would it?

Nice video. I wonder how much of this could be used with basket hilt swords or schiavona.
@josephdedrick93372 жыл бұрын
there are various manuals for those types of swords, so using a system/guards specific to them would work better.

These lessons are excellent, but I just the "Steve wave!" 8D Subscribed! On another note, I like the music - it adds without distracting (and there's something about it that reminds me of the acoustic opening to Led Zepplin's, "Stairway to Heaven." Hmm!). =)

HEMA should become more popular.

Does the non dominant hand need to be at the side? I've seen a fencer destroying another one, but he had his hand behind his back, wich seemed odd to me

Where can I buy that rapier? I've been looking for a rapier in that style for quite some while, unsuccessfully so...
@spanishinquisition76233 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply but check out Castille Armory. But sure where all they ship but if you live in the US or Canada you shouldn’t have much trouble getting them.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know why Lee Smith no longer appears in B&I videos?

I suspect it's because hunting season has started.

Crazy idea but hear me out. Rapier in icepick grip.

Might as well use a short spear. Use like a harpoon, to the foots, to the jewels.

I have done this a lot with an epee! It's tremendously fun to mess with your opponents angle game! At least at the fighting level I was at back then. Unfortunately, with a rapier you can't really hold your grip strongly enough without a finger over the cross guard.
