I concur wholeheartedly. Now you peasants stay on your side of the class divide whilst I dine on horse ass in Lyon with some of that fresh 2019 wine, none of that 1959 crap for me!! And my Dodge Magnum is the best of all worlds. MB E-class front end, S-class rear end, 120” wheelbase, Hemi grunt, and a timeless shape, rivaled only in modern times by the Porsche Panamera Tourismo. Wagons are superior. Hemi engines are top notch a d easy to maintain, Mercedes architecture is the finest, and American affordability made this all available. Plus my lifetime bumper to bumper warranty means this car will be around longer than the dealership. And if they don’t get their shit together, it might be sooner than later.

Can you imagine the outcry there would be if this event was in London? There would be global climate warming change protestors all over the place, all threatening fire and brimstone with pure vial hatred in their voices. How awe-inspiring it is to see an entire country welcome and celebrate these wonderful old cars being driven and enjoyed in the manner in which they were designed to be. Absolutely marvelous. Harry - I have been driving back and forth to Rome (from London) for decades. I rarely do France and never go anywhere near Paris. I always get the tunnel and then go through Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany down to Innsbruck and then the Brenner pass. No tolls. Or I get off the peage just after Rheims and do N routes down to Basle. I have dozens of different routes and combinations. It's not cheap it's true. One thing about the roads in France - they are bloody good.

For anyone who hasnt been to Mille Miglia - I had done both the finish at Brescia and also a stage stay over in Bologna: both we amazing. There is a super great atmosphere. Brescia centre where they finish is beautiful so that is a nice place to see it end. Bologna is an amazing city and actually you got closer to the cars - the first finishers stay in Piazza Maggiore in a sectioned area but the overspill drive through the streets and most areas have no barriers so you can literally high 5 the drivers and see the cars up close. If you love old cars then this is the Mecca and to see them being driven and some of them driven hard too is awesome. Loved this episode Harry!

GREAT video, thanks. I've subscribed for just two or three years now and these are always a delight. This, during our New York City stay-at-home/work-from-home endurance race vs an insidious virus, really picked up my spirits. I've been to Italy twice. Both visits included Siena and the Val d'Orcia: Seggiano, Montalcino and, further north up the SR2, Tenuta la Campana, a lovely agriturismo in the Crete Senesi between Monteroni d'Arbia and Asciano. As such, I was able to very quickly - per road signs behind you - Google-map your exact spot on the roadside where the SR2 meets the SP24 to Radicofani. Great stuff. When I was a teen in the 1970s my Dad for a good long time had a Fiat 124 Spider. Great memories.

Great video. My wife and I drove down and spectated on the Mille Miglia on five occasions in our 1938 MG TA. We treated it as our annual holiday for a two week trip. Each time we went completely different ways down but were always within 50 miles of a 2850 mile total. I would say that it can be done much cheaper than Harry suggests if you avoid tolls (except in some parts of Italy) and stay in budget hotels which, other than in Brescia, we booked on the fly. I am afraid that we were also alarmed at the crazy driving that we witnessed mostly in expensive modern cars on factory organised tours. However the fastest guys that we saw on one occasion on the Futa Pass were in a MIni Moke which was being driven absolutely on the limit after the main circus had passed through. I can also recommend that another event which is worth a visit is the Vernasca Silver Flag near Parma. Less hectic but very enjoyable.

Great video to watch on a Sunday evening. Meal and a few glasses of wine. Better than any Hollywood movie. Loved seeing the Healey 3000. Made the day for me. Thanks.

Hi again Harry, I really enjoyed this one, when you arrived in Sienna , it reminded me of a journey I did in 1967 in my '62 Consul Capri { I'm sure you remember those cars .the one with the massive boot}.I was driving up from Rome and arrived in Sienna in the middle of the night,,,,this was in 1967!. What a place .my exhaust echoing between the buildings.... thought I must come here again soon,,that was 53 years ago! I've still not returned. but your video has got me thinking ..if Italy is open for visitors this year... think I'll take my Mustang GT. Perhaps I'll do a video!

Fabulous! Thank you Harry. Takes me back - followed some of the Mille Miglia in a Ferrari 400 some 30 years ago. As you say, a fabulous festival. Your tips about how to prepare are spot on.

When I drive to Italy I go through Belgium, Germany and Switzerland, the extra distance is made up for by the lower tolling and of course Autobahn! Even taking into account the Swiss Vignette it's cheaper than using the French autoroutes.

Many thanks for this lovely moments from the MMs. I have been to Italy so many times but I could never get tired of these beautiful landscapes and these cool cities, thanks again Harry. You are lucky to have a waterproof hood because mine was far from this, my girl friend being forced to open an umbrella inside during big thunderstorms ahahaha. I miss my Spider.

Nice video, as always. Best shot is the landscape around the 32:07 mark. Doesn't get more Tuscan than that. A tip to make your video's better is to look into a camera gimbal. Makes the handheld shots, like in Sienna, more professional and easier on the eys.

New viewer here-I really felt like I was there in Italy and the birds-eye view of the classic car event is wonderful. Beautifully done. Total escape, which is welcome at this time. I particularly appreciate your down-to-Earth, friendly, unsnobby personality-Sharing your enjoyment of your cars without rubbing it in the viewers’ faces.

Experienced your trip again by looking at this video, how different the MM is now due to Covid and big sponsors involved. Looking back (we did also 6x MM in the 328GTS) it were great(est) times. Happy to experienced the good times as I think it will not come back as it did in the past looking at the square in Sienna/on the Futa-pass etc. shame on all of us due to fear....
