@@richardhale2117 Yup, one of the reasons I hesitate to buy a classic is because even when they've had a massive restoration, you can guarantee something on them is always not going to be working properly - and if I tried to take it anywhere with my wife, she'd indeed pull the pin as soon as there was a strange smell or the blower motor stopped or whatever - so I'd be left with short Sunday morning drives by myself.

Of all of your cars, the jaguar stirs my heart the most. As a kid, growing up in former Yugoslavia, a neighbor was working in Italy and purchased one. I spent countless hours sitting next to it and just looking at every inch of it sensual shape. My mom always questioned me where I was the whole day. I couldn't explain myself. No one would ever understand. My love affair with motorcycles and cars continues to this day. My sister says, I haven't changed a bit. Thank you for the beautiful videos. Keep up the great work.

@peterduxbury927
@peterduxbury927 8 ай бұрын
@@timbo19751975 Well, I find that hard to believe, because this car isn't naturally aspirated, but Fuel-Injected. The ECU knows everything, the RPM of the engine, and also whether the throttle is open - or closed. When the throttle is closed, and the engine RPM is, say 3000 rpm, the Injectors should be delivering zero fuel. There are other reasons why the popping happens. Could be a slight air leak anywhere between the Exhaust Manifold and the whole Exhaust System. An over-rich mixture. I just cannot see the reason why anyone with such a fine car - would allow the popping and banging. It most certainly wasn't running like that when the XJC l;eft the Jaguar Factory as a new vehicle. Harry has spent a small fortune on the Fuel Intake System, and also brand-new (later-designed) Intake manifolds. I have yet to hear any fuel-injected car pop & bang intentionally. Let's face it, all cars today are fuel-injected. It would be a difficult thing to do - to override the ECU to make it "pop and bang". Greetings from Australia.

@@ant2312 I'm sure all Harry's viewers in Ireland are friendly and would give him a warm welcome. The "Southern Ireland" thing is a slight bugbear for many though. There is no such place. There are two jurisdictions. Northern Ireland and Ireland. We all know Harry means no harm and is speaking from a purely geographical perspective but as we've seen in recent years, the island of Ireland is a very political place. I hope Harry can make a future road trip where he hops across to Rosslare and travels the south coast to Cork, Kerry, Limerick and Clare to take in the Cliffs of Moher. Some very challenging roads.

Okay, another observation Harry, if I may? (it's the Republic of Ireland, not Southern Ireland btw 😜) My observation is that you found that whole ordeal "testing".....probably your most used word to describe the whole cross country aspect. What I didn't hear, and was surprised not to hear, was the word "fun"! I know all those roads well, and boy you are right - you need to keep alert if you're moving on, but they are such FUN! Maybe that's why NI and Scotland, have produced their fair share of great drivers, including rally drivers? Watching this made me wish I was chucking that Jag V12 around those roads - I'd have a HUGE grin ear to ear! Great video! 😎🙂👍

That road through Portstewart, Portrush and Downhill (where you have to go under the railway to get onto the beach) is one of my favs. I've driven it a few times over the years, twice in my Caterham (in the company of 40+ other kit cars) on a day like you had with perfect blue skies. Beautiful part of the world. In fact, the whole route from Westport, up through Donegal, across the top and down to Newtownards is just wonderful. It's right and proper that it rains in Ireland because if the weather was predictably beautiful all the time, it'd be swamped by tourists. As it stands, if you can bear the weather, you can enjoy the jewel that it is relatively quietly. Some of the roads are challenging in a Caterham - for sure. Dry sump essential (for ground clearance).

So good to hear you stretching the legs of the Jaaaag through the gears. Sounds absolutely superb, you must just want to keep working that gearbox so you can listen to that glorious engine. Great trip… apart from the rain! 😆

Love the road trips, Harry and this was a beaut. Your carry-on attitude by not allowing the u/s wipers to ruin your trip - fantastic! Oh and the V12 sounded magnificent as well. 🤩

I was watching this video, and on those occasions the sun came out, found myself just admiring the Jag’s paint job. Just a gorgeous colour, I think the best I’ve seen on a Jag. And it’s from an Aston.

Welcome to Ireland Harry !! ☔😁 . And , as you mentioned the colour green on the Jag ; Origins of British Racing Green ; It takes its name from the green international motor racing colour of the United Kingdom. This originated with the 1903 Gordon Bennett Cup, held in Ireland (then still part of the UK), as motor-racing on public roads was illegal in Great Britain. As a mark of respect, the British cars were painted shamrock green

In 1980 I spent a couple of weeks attached to a general practice in Abbey Road, NW8. The GP I was with had a red XJ Coupé and was very proud of it. Spent some time explaining the differences between it and the saloon.

Awesome video. We just came back last week from a lap round the coast of Ireland in our V8 Vantage. Drove a lot of those roads, the Wild Atlantic Way along the west coast is spectacular.
