One note on stress: Don't worry about it if your king is old. You'll get stressed, die and your son will inherit all the goodies you "bought" with your stressful life, and have no stress himself. Consider stress more of a currency you can spend, rather than a negative metric you want to keep as low as possible. Obviously, you don't want your 25 year old king having a mental breakdown, but if you're 60 and at stress level 2, you're probably on a good track.

My first campaign so far: Went to one of those genealogy websites to see how far back I could trace some of my actual ancestry (relatives had a membership). Found my 27th Great Grandfather is some dude named "William FitzWilliam of Bréteuïl" which was in the normandy region. Found a character named "William" in Normandy and went "That'll work." Start the game. "Wait... why do I have a pressed claim on the entire kingdom of England?" Made some allies, called in a few favors, siege sussex and most of southern england, win my first war, enforce demands. "You are now known as William The Conqueror" ".... oh."

HAHAH well, that's one way to really dive into the roots of your ancestry: take over their ancestral claims to the kingdom of England!! I'm only second generation Italian so the lineage back to Italy is still pretty in tact, but I'd laugh my ass off if I had something like: "Marco? We had someone in the family named Marco, that's dumb, what was his last name?" ".... Polo?" "... Oh.." ".. Yeah.." unfortunately i have no clue of my ancestry that far back.. my family is too mixed to really determine that.. so i just went for some random vassal that was still relatively young and he ended up living till like 80 years old.. his son and heir had already died (god knows how he died though) so when he died his 7 year old granddaughter took over.. she had like 10 kids by the age of 30 technically 11 but one died. i became a vassal to this old woman and i guess that when she died my holdings were just wiped off the map.. that sucked

@ItalianSpartacus There are some things that you didnt get quite right. Let me correct them for you: 1. Spouse is not adding points to your council, but to you. She does not affect the council by any means, but if she has some good stats she often can give you a positive (or if she has bad stats negative) events in which you gain some extra money, prestige, piety or opinion, or just temporary perks that affect your domain. They are usualy consistent with her lifestyle focus, choices and her traits. Spouse with high Stewardship will sometimes spawn events in which you gain additional money or perks that improve targeted county's development or tax income, one with high Diplomacy will raise opinion of you amongst your court and vassals and so on and so forth. 2. You said that Learning stat affects Court Phisicians ability to heal, which of there is no indicator in the game or in the tooltips, so I wouldn't be so sure about that. As far as I noticed the only thing that affect Court Phisician is his Physician trait, as it has a health boost on the tooltip and it says so in the trait decription. 3. You said that Development is not that nescessary, which is HUGE missconception. It is extremely important to have high development in your counties as county's development quickens development in neighboring counties. And the reason you need high development is because the higher Average Development of the counties within your culture group, the quicker you unlock new Innovations that help your domain in staying ahead techonologically compared to your opponents. I know that it seems not that crucial, but the more time I spend with the game the more important it gets (you can't have primogeniture succesion if you dont have certain Innovation, you cant adopt feudal way as a tribe without having all innovations in Tribal Age unlocked, you cant build certain buildings that gives you more tax and levies without proper technology). In short, Developent is EXTREMELY important, and If you dont convert cultures, have your steward improve development in one of your counties, the gains from that are FAR greater then couple % more tax income.

@EloNis934 жыл бұрын
@@italianspartacus Its okay, dont mention it :) This game is extremely convoluted and some things aren't as obvious as they would seem at the first glance. Exactly, If you have Assist Ruler in Council tab picked for the spouse, you get 20% of all her skills added to yours, If you pick a specialized stat, ull get 50% of this one stat added to yours. You can see that effect if you put your mouse over ur stats in Character screen . It's a great way to fix the shortcomings of the ruler as well, If you have shitty ruler with some bad stats, you can fix that by having a wife with good stats, or If your ruler have for example a very bad intrigue stat you can fix that by setting ur spouse to help him/her with that and it will fix that for you. @ABDULLAH JABBAR You need the Royal Prerogative innovation from Early Ages (you can start unlocking it from 900AD and if you have at least 10 innovations in tribal era, as long as you are your culture's culture head).

A slight correction regarding implicit claims: these are claims that heirs have for their living parents' currently held titles. Though all of the parents' heirs may have an implicit gain for a specific title held by one of the parents, only one will inherit it when that parent dies, and the rest of the heirs trade the implicit claim to that title for a pressed claim. A parent's pressed claims are NOT implicit claims for the heirs- only titles that the parent holds are implicit claims for the child. The parents pressed claims don't show up for the child at all while the parent is still alive, and once the parent dies the child inherits them as unpressed claims.
@rollercoaster4784 жыл бұрын
Are unpressed claims inheritable?
@powrhouse59324 жыл бұрын

@Joostmhw4 жыл бұрын
What...I don’t get it
@rollercoaster4784 жыл бұрын
@@Joostmhw 1. kids all get implicit claims on their alive parents actual titles that they hold. When that parent dies, his heirs divide the titles, the rest of the kids (women usually) get pressed claims on those titles, because they didnt inherit shit. 2. If the parents had pressed claims, then kids will inherit those claims but they will be downgraded to an unpressed claim. That works for all kids, no matter the gender. 3. If the parent has an unpressed claim, kids will not inherit that claim, because unpressed claims are legally not strong and dont inherit. So if you have an unpressed claim and you want your kids to have that claim, you have to declare war, because if you get White Peace in that war , it will become a pressed claim. But if you Surrrender that war then you lose the unpressed claim, and your kids wont inherit it. 4. I will add that your grandkids dont get implicit claims on your titles, there are situations where it can matter, for example if your heir dies, and then your character dies, then your perfect grandkid might not inherit anything, but it all depends on Inheritance Laws I think, so just be careful about that, always check the Line of Succession by clicking on the title you want to check under your characters profile, then click Line of Succession

I’m in very deep debt). After I became ruler of Bohemia and Hungary I noticed I had 5 electoral votes in the “Who gets to be the next Emperor of the HRE.” And I voted for myself, and I won. Now, on my first play through I control the entirety of the Holy Roman Empire... very good friends and ally’s with Sweden and Norway. Hated by the Pope. But hey, I just rigged the system. Lmao.

I just want to give a huge thank you here, sir. In all my time of gaming, especially strategy gaming, I can honestly say I have never seen such a thorough, well-put-together, and informative beginner tutorial. I stopped, and abandoned the first campaign I started in order to watch this video, knowing I would have a better grip on things in my second and subsequent plays. Massive kudos to you, my friend! And thank you again.

Looking good! Remember newcomers, it's okay to have a campaign go horribly wrong, it's part of the learning process, and later on... an unexpected feature of the game. The best stories have nadirs, they make the apex that much more satisfying.

I have watched the majority of your guides and want to say thank you because I did not have a clue how to play this game based on the in-game tutorial alone. I completed 2 play throughs before watching your guides on youtube (this is my first time playing crusader kings). The first 2 campaigns did not go so well. I watched most of your tutorial videos and then started another campaign with Ireland on Ironman. I am now really close to forming an Empire! It is all thanks to your videos. I really appreciate them and hope you keep them coming. And to anyone who is new to CK, I highly recommend ItalianSparticus’ guides.

Even though I thought this was for CK 2 when I hit play I do have CK 3 and just wanted to say that you are a gem of an instructor. Your voice and cadence is perfect for those of us that need someone to stay on focus and speak slower and clearly but with some personality so we don't fall asleep. I am approaching senior years and while I did well in the game when CK 2 was released I am very lost now and fast very animated talkers are hard to follow. Anyway... I wish you much success on KZbin!

You are seriously the GOAT I am so thankful for this. Could you maybe go in a little bit on control? How do you impact it besides granting it to someone else or moving your marshal there? It seems like the game wants you to expand early but then any land you take is low control so then I have no levies or taxes. Any tips?

In my last play through I decided to challenge myself by starting out in a remote corner of Mongolia. Rather than focusing on an early alliance I figured at that I could just conquer as much as I could, limit myself to a single male heir, and have the daughters married off to spread some of those good genes around. Since I only had 400 development points it was only a few, but I managed. My son inherited beautiful, pure blooded, fecund, and hale. I married him off to a girl who had the best intelligence trait and I was really hoping to get something out of that. Boy was I wrong. Anyway, I was pretty modest at first but then I somehow became Genghis Khan fairly early actually and I unlock the Mongolian horde. Suddenly my troops increased from the few thousand I was able to muster to nearly 40,000! I was not expecting that and I naturally took full advantage of it and conquered all of Mongolia like it was nothing. Even better I got a variant of the kingdom attacking ability that I can use repeatedly it did not take long. But here is where I made my mistake. I ventured outside of the Empire boundaries of Mongolia. I wanted to carve a path towards the third holy site so I could reform the religion. What I should have done is stuck to the Empire boundaries and focus on increasing control and happiness before I died. I was doing great until I suddenly died and then immediately after starting as my heir the heir suddenly died as well. Turns out one of my grandsons had plotted a double murder, which would have been smart and historically accurate if only that put him next in line for the throne. But no, that's not what happened. It put my heir's daughter on the throne because I died before him. If he died before me that would actually have placed him into a position of inheritance. Then I find out that the little girl I'm now playing as wasn't even really my granddaughter. She only inherited the genius trait of her mother and she did not have any of my physical features. So, basically, my epic reading plan failed. However, there were still people around that had those traits and some of them were still of the genuine family house because I spread my genes far and wide so I figured I would make the best of it. And that's where my other mistake came to bite me. Due to the fact that I had a fair chunk of the surrounding Empires there was too much ground to cover when the rebels attacked and they came from everywhere simultaneously. And I didn't get a predecessor opinion bonus because my predecessor died within seconds of taking throne so suffice to say that campaign ended miserably. Still, it was memorable. The lessons I learned was to not try to take everything in your first generation, don't even let your daughter's sons survive to adulthood, and that the Mongolian horde is awesome to control. I do wish that the Mechanics for Rebels were just a little bit different. They come out of everywhere with numbers far greater than any army I can muster and a typically do it only when I'm otherwise engaged in battle with a foreign power.

Just started CK3 after weeks of watching videos. Playing as Petty King Murchad in the tutorial. Going well. Married into an alliance with Aquitaine. Great ally. I get some more claims, take Dublin. Start my next claim on the duchy below it, the south of Ireland will be mine, and I can immediately press my claim on half of half of Connacht. Until someone calls for my help. It’s Aquitaine. And you know what they did? DECLARED INDEPENDENCE FROM FRANCE!!! I can’t decline this, I’ll lose like 350 fame, and I don’t know how significant that is. So I take all 2k or so of my troops and sail to France in a pointless war I don’t care about instead of pressing my claims and securing my rule as king of Ireland LIKE I SHOULD BE. IT’S BEEN YEARS. I’LL BE DEAD BEFORE I EVEN CLAIM SOUTHERN IRELAND!!!!…Also, found out my bishop is a sodomite.

This video and the last one on the playlist have given me thee BEST 2 pieces of advice I've seen so far (and I've watched A LOT of guides): 1) the action lock on the tool tip 2) do the tutorial I watched these last night before I went to sleep and when I started playing today I was at just over 30 hours playing. I started over and did the tutorial and OH MY GODS THANK YOU!!! I thought after all the guides and playthroughs I've watched that I was pretty ready to go, but there's so many of the smaller things youtube guides don't tell you (ummm I guess cause they expect noobs like me to do the tutorial? lol go figure). What I've found difficult it just starting off as a random character lower down the food chain. I understand the concept of the mechanics, but it's not long into the game when I've been raided or invaded while the liege is happy to watch if there is one, and there seems no way forward. Taking on the Munster/Ireland character it's just much easier, I'm slightly stronger than the neighbours so it feels a lot easier to build up some land.

In 867 you're in the Early Medieval Period... not "tribal period" (in fact you could still go back a couple of hundreds of years and it would still be considered "Early Medieval Period", it's the Dark Ages... straight after the fall of the Western Roman Empire. In 1066 you're just before the First Crusade (1096) and right after the Church Schism which resulted in Orthodox and Catholic (1054).

I have to second that recommendation to start as Dublin. I did that and married my son to a welsh daughter given me a strong alliance just across the sea. I then married the rest of my kids to various Irish nobles given me an alliance with some of the other Irish fiefdoms. My father died and I inherited his land in Leinster and then invaded my neighbors and then created the duchy of meath. I have the strongest army thanks the martial abilities of Earl Murchad and can easily take all of Ireland

In my limited experience, it is very sandbox. But you cannot, yet, create your own ruler/culture/religion from scratch without mods.
@jacobperez73294 жыл бұрын
@@CptRyaffio Is that typically something they add to the game later? Are mods easy to download and use?
@CptRyaffio4 жыл бұрын
@@jacobperez7329 Regarding mods, I had no issue using the Steam Workshop to both find and download mods, but I am not sure if this is the best place for them. Paradox does offer a DLC for Crusader Kings 2 that lets you build your own ruler, though I don't know what exactly it does and doesn't let you do (never played CK2). I don't know if there are DLC that allow you make your own culture/religion. That was more of an expression of hope regarding future options :)
@Joostmhw4 жыл бұрын
CK3 is probably the best game in the Paradox strategy saga. It brings lots of depth, more than Stellaris for sure and the roleplaying is available but optional. Traits add decisions or give a penalty of stress when going against it, but you can still go against it if you want. I highly recommend getting it and looking at getting the dlc pass that saves you some bucks on the first 3 dlc (2 minor and 1 larger than other Paradox dlc ((allegedly))). Ruler creator is coming and appears to be either free or the first minor dlc I’m not sure. You can find the article on the ck3 thread on steam though.
