Swahili IS difficult. For example : There are 4 ways to say " my " : yangu , changu, wangu and langu. And it is like puzzling for me . In english you just say " my". It just not change. But here it changes. Depending on the noun that follows. My bed = kitanda changu. My friend = rafiki yangu. My wife = mke wangu . My bag = begi langu.And that is just one example. I am really trying and I will keep on going but "Kiswahili si rahisi. Kiswahili ni ngumu sana."

Hello from Australia, in my mother's country we refer (out of respect) to strangers and family friends as brother/sister/uncle/aunty/grandmother/grandfather. Is this accepted in the Swahili language or does it sound weird as in European languages. I know that men sometimes call their wives Bibi. Could you please explain these a bit further?
