Fantastic video! Really helps everyone who is in IT or looking to get in reflect on WHEN and IF you need to learn a particular coding language/technology/skill. Too many times we hear "Learn this now!" or "The future is that!" and we don't stop to think about whether going in that direction will really help us achieve our end goal, myself included. Python is fantastic, and I will learn AT LEAST the fundamentals, but I don't need to do that RIGHT NOW. And that's okay!

Python is a cool and fun programming language; it was the language which taught me some of the fundamentals for programming. But what annoys me is when you have people on the internet promoting Python so strongly. For example, some people even on KZbin say things like get a job in 6 months as a D'Jango Developer. But when you look at the job market, there are barely any jobs looking for web developers using Python and D'Jango. I go on indeed and you see Python is added as a secondary language which may be required or preferred. Or they are jobs like AWS DevOps developer or Data Science. I noticed a pattern, usually people online who promote Python so strongly are either newbie programmers or they are selling Python courses, just my opinion. I like Python, it's a cool hobby programming language to use, you can even make video games using Pygame. I will one day make a video game with Python.

I feel like with most coding languages it all comes down to what path you are going down and with anything you my not need it but it only helps you to even know a little bit of it which is why i will mess around with python, java, and the others in a virtual box

You could discuss golang versus python for security. I currently use golang as a full time SDET and currently in a MS program for cybersecurity however I would prefer to stick to golang over python. From my research thus far, it seems possible to do everything you can in python, but are companies open to use golang for security? (note: all my security classes for comp Sci with cognate in security was in C and majority to grad program is in C / C++.)

I’m the MDM Engineer lol. I use a lot of BASH and Powershell, just not Python. I’d probably use Python more IF the MDMs I use weren’t OS specific (Airwatch for iOS, JAMF for OSX, Intune/Azure for Windows, etc).

What IT or cybersecurity roles are there don't don't use programming at all? I could never grasp python, Java etc...
@Itcareerquestions
@Itcareerquestions 2 жыл бұрын
There are a ton of roles out there that have no use at all for Python. Python is just there to help you essentially. It makes things much easier for you to do.

Noobie here. Curious if at this point with AI could you copy paste that script into OpenAI and ask what the purpose of the script is? Just starting off in tech and feeling like doing programming all day would be a nightmare. Just curious what it means to know the fundamentals of programming.

As a IT Security Manager for government, I will say Python is not required but makes my job easier. Especially with automation, gathering data and pentesting. I also heavily use PowerShell. Python can be useful for gathering metrics for the enterprise risk management, and the executive team. My advice is to first know what you need done, and then hunt for an answer to build it in Python. A simple project I recently created was building a cmd and then GUI app that pulls the top queries searched for on KZbin based on a key word search. Another simple one was a script to transfer files and runs a setup. The script prompts for a the folder and destinations. It then connects to the assets and transfers the files, installs the program, and forwards the logs to my SIEM. skadoosh.

When you were chubby you were cute. Now you’re sexy 😊 lol. I want to get into computer programming. I’ve been doing customer service for over 10 years so I have communication skills. Looking to walk into tech companies as an intern but I want to have some type of certificate under my belt before I do so. My thing is I don’t want to learn anything too stressful and I NEED a remote job after my internship. What field do you recommend? Currently I’m looking into google python certificate…what do you think?
