The much anticipated Adventure Bike Festival 2023 at the Ragley Hall estate in Warwickshire.
A star-studded line up from the adventure motorbike & motorbike travelling world.
For the ABR 2023 KZbin motorbike traveller Noraley Schoenmaker aka, 'Itchy Boots' makes a surprise appearance.
I get to ask at her presentation, would she tour the UK?
This video will be showcasing Noraly's first presentation on the Friday, dismissing the people that suggest she has a film crew with her on her motorcycle travels.
1st episode: catching the vibe of the festival.
2nd episode: Itchy Boots presentation on the Friday & I ask her:
''Would you come to the UK to do a mini-tour''?
3rd Video More of the ABR.

Given all the positive attention Noraley gives to Honda why don't they grab a golden opportunity for promotion and help the girl out? I have a Rally due in no small part to the inspirational videos Noraley produces, shame on Honda.

Absolutely agree with that & wondered why not too? She gets kit from Revit obviously but regarding the bike there seems little support. There might be something in her being attached to that particular bike & saying she did that tour on that particular bike. So I'm guessing even if Honda sent in a replacement bike it would've the same meaning at the end of a trip. There is something in saying 'Alaska' was the bike that conquered the Americas. Thanks for commenting, ride safe on your rally & have fun 👍 Daz

If there are any Honda (UK/worldwide) management people watching this video or, more importantly her KZbin channel why don’t you make Honda marketing aware of what she’s done and continues to do for the brand? Noraly has has said she doesn’t want a bike sponsor atm. She’s wants to be able to ride what ever bike she wants at the time … she started on royal enfields … can’t remember her bike she had in Holland.. also rode a different brand in the Baja ralley. Maybe she will down the track. Who knows

I've been watching Norally since her early days and her reruns get me through my slow days. Enjoyed this video as it shows her personality. The struggles she had during covid-19 times to me was the best. I think what got me through it all was her "infectious" smile and laughter. The best cure. 👍👍🏍🏍🏍🙋‍♂️

there is something about overlanding & venturing into the relatively unknown. Even more so as a solo female explorer, but she breaks the myths about the world as you say with her ''infectious'' smile & laughter. I also enjoy watching Lea Rieck 'Got2Go' .

Nice vid. But I don’t think we will ever see Noraly on a UK tour. Honesty I think she would be wasted on it. I do agree that we have some nice places but any rider of any skill either in bike handling or video production can produce stuff to a suitable level to show off what we have. Noraly’s speciality is to get us to the most remote places by riding off road. There is very little of the UK where that is possible. Our green lanes are not that interesting and are too inaccessible for a solo rider with all their worldly belongings packed onto the bike. Maybe people from other counties and cultures would disagree with me. But like I have said there are already many vids on KZbin already showing what we have.
@DazmatronMotorcycleTrips
@DazmatronMotorcycleTrips Жыл бұрын
Interesting observation I see your point. Perhaps its not so much the places that we know where she could go in the UK & yes I agree the UK is certainly not the places she prefers from the challenging sense. I think personally speaking I'd love to see the character of Noraly explore our island, like a documentary even to see what she thinks. There's an idea for when she finishes touring! 🤔

Noraly is certainly a one woman expeditionary force,taking us to places most of us didn't know existed, and with her geographic background, also learn something about our planet and the people on it. One thing I've learned is that people of the 'western' world are you less freindly and hospitable than their counterparts. Or is it really Noraly's georgeous smile, infective laughter and blue eyes 🤔. If she were british, she would be up for promotion to Dame Noraly 😉. Thanks to you too Daz for bringing this video and to the ABR powers to be for this delightfuf surprise, even tho' I had to watch it from Germany. This ITCHIBOOTS dose came just in time 😓😂🤣

Thanks for commenting here 👍. Yes I agree, if there was a draft or pilot for a TV series with the idea of a solo female traveller prepared to travel the world into remote places & survive, there you would have Noraly. Except she'd film, present & star in, edit, prepare equipment, manage logistics, routes & embassy visa's etc etc etc & still have a smile on her face at the end of the day! I'd sign the petition to get Noraly a Damehood but thats the dilemma, more fame more recognition. A few people have commented about this, let's just hope there's more places in the world for her to explore. Thanks fof your comments, pleased the vid helped. By the way I just rode to Bavaria & rode the 600km Romantiche Strasse , just posted 4 short vids, check those out if you'd like to. Cheers, Daz 👍

Noraly has ridden to and in the UK a few times from Holland between seasons delivering her Bikes for shipping, I've always wondered if she'll do a season here and what a lovely answer she gave. TBH she could make it a 'holiday' season from the almost torturous journeys she's made through each early season and plan a route at the best time of year April / May she'd love it and how she'd make it a challenge would be interesting.

It may take Noraley some time to get round to visiting our little island, especially when there are so many exciting. wild and wooly dirt tracks around the world for her to still explore. We've not got many of those left here. Probably the best ones remaining around the UK are the old drover routes like those here in Somerset I've done some in a Landy and know they'd be awesome on a bike. I said to her at the meet & greet after her talk that could be another 20-30 years! In fairness to her she said she didn't like to plan too far ahead. Thank you for your comments, Daz.

Being an avid Noraly video watcher...and a dreamer of being a rider..her travels help fill a yearning to ride. I'm an American who was born and raised in Africa...and had a true adventurer father...we did many long distance treks. I would love to ride....next wiuld be to get a bike....learn the ropes....Turning dreams into reality is the next challenge!

She left Alaska she said with a guy who she hoped is going to fix the bike. It sounded like a serious engine issue so I'm assuming she'd have to wait for parts & delivery. The powers that be took the opportunity to get her over to the ABR. Once her bike is fixed I imagine she'll be straight back 👍. Thanks for commenting. Daz.

Such is her charisma & character, she was laughing & enjoying herself being there it seemed. I'm not sure whether she has given talks or presentations before at least not on that scale. This video was from the Friday morning on the smaller stage at 11am, a lot of people were still arriving & setting up there tents etc so missed it. The following day she was on the bigger stage, word had spread around the festival, consequently the marquee was packed & 3-4 deep around the side! I'd say after the overwhelming reception she got from the crowd when she came on stage she seemed taken aback with the support (rightly so). Straight after that she was enthusiastic & comfortably giving her talk & answering questions at the end & having a good laugh at things. The whole experience was great as it gave us all to see Noraly in a different setting and again she just came across being just a wonderful person we know & love from her channel.

There was a point during the Alaska series when she'd been helped more than once by English bikers. I posted pretty much the same thing, that the UK would make an interesting mini-series. I was thinking Land's End to John O'Groats. Taking in Wales, the Pennines and Scottish Highlands. There's lots of interesting rural and urban places along the route.
@DazmatronMotorcycleTrips
@DazmatronMotorcycleTrips Жыл бұрын
Totally agree with you ZombieATAT, there has been a couple of, shall we say cynical post's questioning where would Noraly go in the UK? I answered those post's by typing this as a couple of idea's: Scotland Highlands & Islands Route 750km. 3-4 Days. Steeped in folklore & legends, the West Coast of Scotland, untamed & remote. Mountains, loch's, awesome scenery, hundreds of miles of coastline with hidden valleys with empty roads even in the height of summer. Ferries connecting to remote island communities, marine wildlife, heather cloaked moors, roads snaking around lochs & weaving through glens for hundreds of kilometres. England & Scotland 'Bound for the Borders Route 700km. 3-4 Days. Northumberland coast northwards crossing the border into Scotland then south via Jedburgh towards the Roman 'Hadrians Wall'. Medieval astles, crumbling Abbey's & fortifications left for centuries after warfare even before the Roman occupation. Ferries from Holland dock in Newcastle allowing riders to enjoy this awesome route. Cumbrian Lake District Route. 200km 1 day. In the stunning Lake district National Park you will find 150 mountains, 16 lakes & more than 50 dales. England's highest peak Scafell Pike 978m or 3209km & longest lake Windermere 17km. Don't forget the Hardknott Pass which I recently rode on my GS, a 1:3 or 33% gradient very tight hairpin bend! I'm running out of text allowance now before I have even started answering the question. I haven't even got to: The Emerald Isle, Ireland 1100km 7-10 days. A magical land of soft green hills & misty lakes encircled by a spectacular craggy coastline rising from the Atlantic. Welsh Mountains & Valleys 350km 1-2 days. The Snowdonia National park covers an area of 2,131 square km's with it's western boundaries bringing sight of spectacular stretches of coastline found in Britain. Mountains sweep down into the sea here also being a popular playground for bottlenose dolphins. The Brecon Beacons 1,350 square km's. This bikers paradise even has an Italian inspired village! I'm rambling on a bit now but there is a whole lot more, places she could go which are remote enough & there's the 'Trail Riders Fellowship' which is another idea for remote riding on green lanes.

@@DazmatronMotorcycleTrips There's something I noticed recently through watching other travel videos, people don't really understand the UK. There was a guy that had visited London and he was grumbling about folks not being friendly, saying he wouldn't return. On the one hand, it's a city and no one has time for anyone in any city. On the other hand, there's nothing natural about any location that's geared predominantly towards tourism. After leaving him a comment, that pretty much boiled down to promoting everything in the UK North of the English North/South divide, I realised their must be a lot of tourists that never get past London. I've got a feeling that Noraly also might have only been here on business and never really strayed away from urban areas. Maybe she views it like Europe, when in reality it packs in all the same appeal but much more condensed. I'm not a rider, I'm actually travelling vicariously continuing to learn more about the (real) world from my couch due to severe illness. There are definitely people from outside the UK that have planned interesting routes and that's usually come from just straight up asking people in their videos where they should go. I recognise most of the locations you've listed but not so familiar with the biking aspect. I went with a more vague approach because it seems more like her style and gives an overall goal for the trip. Honestly, I'm now thinking blend both together. A combination of showcasing that the UK has great roads and scenery, plus interesting cultural and historical sites. Pointing out some unmissable rides, then letting her piece the rest together as she normally does. Obviously series 20 is long way off though!!

I have been watching Noraly for several weeks now and she's an inspiration. I understand her love of travelling to new places, waking up in the morning in a new place and going to the window to see, then exploring. I'm an army daughter, so this I understand. I don't understand wanting to travel alone in places like African countries and countries where people are very very poor and might be tempted by the things they see that she has.Or places where women are viewed as being subservient. At least, I'd only go to those places if I had a weapon. I'm not timid, just realistic.

I think her popularity will one small day be what brings her travels to a halt. When there are no places left for her to go without a trail of fans following her, the concept of her channel will be impossible to maintain. She's a star already and will be a genuinely self-made superstar by then. Probably the first ever. I am not a jealous person, but I am ever so slightly jealous that it was you who got to meet her, not me. 😮 You lucky lucky.. you lucky, you oh so very lucky... 😭 (And I guess if you lot in Britain promise to pretend you don't know her she might ride aroud the UK one day. 😄)

There was a list as long as your arm of speakers from world sport champions, social media & globe trotting adventurers. I'd totally forgot about the other surprise guest until Vanessa mentioned it! Yes I agree, ultimately Noraly could become a victim of her own success, in that, as she explained she already gets recognised everywhere she goes, even in West Africa. The world is a big place though so I hope Noraly can still find places without an Internet connection! As for the UK, I'm hoping if that day comes then the trafitional British politeness will allow her to explore some of the beautiful places she could visit. Thanks for your comments, nice one 👍, Daz.

Do you suppose Noraly had any idea when she was getting her advanced degree that her beautiful blue eyes, infectious smile, and sexy Dutch accent would take her as far as they have? I wonder BTW if she has met Ewan Mcgregor? Someone should have hooked that up if he was available while she is in the UK. That would be a media moment to remember. I think Noraly has taught us, shown us all a great lesson...that in every part of this wonderful world there are wonderful people, ordinary, down-to-earth people who are naturally friendly, helpful and and generous. We are all different yet we are one. Isn't it sad that the powers that be are always intent on highlighting and playing on differences, using divide and rule, keeping humanity divided thus easier to manipulate and control. Wars would be a thing of the past but for the coercion of a rich predator class that profits from exploitation and human suffering. Perhaps one day mankind will rise up and eradicate these globalist predators and we can enjoy peace on earth.

Noraly's journey through Africa has shown some of the best of humanity... being given bread and invited to tea in very modest homes in Madagascar, accompanied through the desert, ferried across rivers with a 'can do' attitude. This is an amazing view of people living close to the earth, as they have for centuries, on a very diverse continent. Her talk while riding through the diamond mining area of Sierra Leone this last week was very informative...I'm sure she is well versed on geology and mining in many parts of the world. I would like to see her meet up with Nick Zentner, the geology prof at Central Washington Univ, and travel along the Columbia River Gorge

It was a great question and a good suggestion to perhaps do a half season ... who knows, it may happen sooner than we think(?)

It was a spontaneous question really & as I added, sure the UK isn't a large continent but has some really great places. I'm planning another ride this year called 'The Ride of the Roses', it includes a visit to a place called 'Brimham Rocks', this is just one place we could dangle a carrot to Noraly for her to come & visit as its a biological Site of Special Interest & Geological Review! Noraly loves rocks 😁 this site has some weired & wonderful shaped rock formations created 100 million years ago. Right up Noraly's Street 👍.

Yes I was there and heard it. That would take her all of 24 hrs to complete given the distances she travels. Not exactly the Andes or the rockies !!

Perhaps a little longer than 24hrs John? Here's just a few options of places to ride.... Scotland Highlands & Islands Route 750km.

Noraly when you start becoming to commerical this starts to ruin you.

Very true Mark, a few comments from people saying she should get commercial support. Yes she's got Revit to help with kit but I agree with you, the second commercial enterprises get overly involved she could potentially loose control of her own destiny & authenticity of her channel. Years down the line after she stops touring I predict she'll be a global star when she can choose what she wants to do. 👍
