Ottoman Turkey was established in 1453 AD. Anything before that is Eastern Roman/Byzantium/Armenians history. E. Roman Empire does not exist any more but Greece and Armenia exist. Wester Turkey was Byzantium/Eastern Roman Empire; Easter Turkey was Armenian Kingdom/Armenian Highlands. About 3,800 historic sites are Armenian, 3,400 Greek (Byzantium/E. Roman Empire/ Armenian Kingdom) overlapped. 600 historic sites are Jewish and Assyrian, 700 sites are Turkish. It is shameful how visitors introduce Greek and Armenian historic sites a Eastern Roman Empire. Shame on you the other peopl, as you call them, are the natives of those lands. Σέλγη (Sélgi) The 'g' is pronounced like a 'y' - Selyi; means Willow Tree. It's in ancient Pisidia (like Pisces?) on the southern slope of Mt. Taurus. Homer's _Iliad_ may have been performed at the amphitheater. "In consequence of its excellent laws and political constitution, Selge rose to the rank of the most powerful and populous city of Pisidia, and at one time was able to send an army of 20,000 men into the field." - Wiki They say Alexander the Great marched through there in 333 BC. The storax tree grows there which creates a strong perfume. 🌳 Remember _The Lorax_ from Dr. Seuss? 🤔

The amount of effort and manpower needed to build the amphitheater shows how important the road she is riding on is. Think of the people and armies that have traveled the very road she was riding on. Amazing video.

@unclesven4515 check out Knidos. I have never seen a more beautiful one. The road that led to it was so tough as well which doubles the admiration.

I’m so happy you’re back on the road and posting twice each week. The scenery is just amazing. The history is mind boggling to say the least. Those elderly women were so nice as are about 95 % of the people you encounter on your travels. Frankie seems to be living up to the expectations so far. Beautiful country. Stay safe Noraly.👍👍🇨🇦

We love Turkey and hope you will make it to Azerbaijan and Georgia and all the former Soviet Union countries. Please may you be generous and share more about your meals and the people serving you and less about the mechanics of your bike. We all love your adventures which we all watch together. We all get a little disappointed when you do not interact enough with the people at the restaurants and hostels and hotels, and the people you encounter in your travels. We all think so highly of you and wish you safety and enjoyment along the way.

SPQR Forever!!! The Romans built that amphitheater where thousands of people would gather for plays, great orators and this is how they received current news and events. A place of culture and learning of the ancient world for the mass populace. Turkey has some of the best and most magnificent Roman ruins of that region which was named Anatolia back then in the days of antiquity. You are treading on soil that has over 4000 years, or more, of history by the Greeks, Romans, Phoenicians, and others that tread upon that land long ago. As a decent historian, such places would rock my world in a very major way.
