In this episode I am visiting Etosha Heights in Namibia. They are custodian of black rhino and are fighting hard to protect these beautiful animals from poachers. I get to see some of their work, both from the air and from the ground and even come face to face with two black rhino myself. While on my Honda CRF250L!!

You’re not just a woman riding around on a motorcycle, really anyone could do that. What makes you and your channel special is your total respect and involvement with your surroundings, with the people in countries and your ability to teach and explain. You have more than riding skills , your passion is contagious. Good stuff as always and safe travels.

Great video. Made me think back on the time I spent doing voluntary anti-rhino poaching, one weekend per month. A number of times I walked on my own through the bush for hours at nighttime looking for signs of poacher activity. Can’t say I wasn’t nervous at times. Learnt a lot about rhinos. They are truly amazing gentle creatures, and a lot like ourselves. And that is one of the reasons we love them so much. But, can be dangerous. Done my time, and hope many more young people will take up their share in looking after our planet’s wildlife. Noraly, thanks again

Your closing summation of your video experience say's it all. Those who care for and protect wildlife on this planet deserve the highest praise. It's reassuring to know that there is a lot more going on there to support the preservation of species that were once taken for granted and all others as well. Climate change and exploitation of natural resources reveal how we are effected when key links in the scheme of things are damaged or lost. Essentially we are all connected. Making the space we occupy better than when we found it is a good start towards global healing.

@@Peter-gi3re Not too far from where I live is an old 19th century "company town" that processed ivory and was known for being a big supplier of piano keys. Culturally speaking, at the time in the 1800's, that seemed perfectly acceptable and a lot of people relied on those manufacturing jobs. Times change. I wonder how many elephants would have been saved if plastic or bakelite had been available in that era. That said customs don't always change. Sadly even today elephants are still being poached in large numbers for their ivory. It makes me wonder if the "elephant in the room" is greed, cultural hang ups, or mental illness.

@@cch255 Yes, I understand your point but something needs to be done to change this situation. If the poachers are successful then eventually there will be nothing left to poach. Then what will they do to feed their families. There are poor families that sell their kids to survive too. We think we live in such an evolved and advanced age, but yet there are huge portions of the world left hundreds of years behind in development. We have rich people paying huge sums also to go on hunting vacations to kill beautiful creatures like these. I think that is more criminal than the poachers are. So many screwed up things in this world. How many more years will it take for some of this stuff to change…….. maybe another thousand years.

Yes that is a gyro-copter. They have a serviceable altitude of 10,000 feet. The overhead prop provides lift while the pusher prop at the rear, propels it forward. As long as there is forward thrust, the overhead prop will continue to provide lift. In normal flight they can't stall, but they can't hover either. In the event of engine failure they have a 4 to 1 glide ratio, and a smooth landing can be achieved in only a few meters. I had a licence when I was 20 (47 years ago).

15:16 Wow, the way the Rhino looked at you - that gave me a fright. And all those tight turns by the plane made me feel like I'm gonna fall off the plane. What an exciting day you had! =D

It is not everyday we get to fly in a Gyro-copter and see what you saw and recorded on video stream but thank you Noraly as it was well worth it I'd say. Your eyesight is way better than mine but then age has its factors to take into consideration. Cheers to you and to the guys on the ground, whose work helps maintain the Rhino's and other endangered species.

Awesome episode. Your absolute delight evident on your face when the helicopter was taking off was fantastic to see. Still enthusiastic even after your helicopter flight in Europe. The notification of this video interrupted me while watching your Live Chat from 27 November 2020. One of your new videos is virtually the only thing that can pull me away from watching another of your videos!

It was a gyrocopter, not a helicopter, it always has to move forward. No power to the blade on top. A lot simpler and safer than a helicopter, great for low cost reliable operation.
