In this episode, I am joining Naude and his team to rescue Cape Fur Seals that are entangled in all sorts of human trash, like nets, plastics, fishing lines, volleybal nets and the list goes on. They are going out there every single day to help seals that are entangled. There are so many animals in need of help that last year alone, they rescued 600 animals. For this year, the count is already at 200 seals that they freed out of plastic waste. It soon became clear to me what a massive problem this is, and how amazing the work that these guys do.
They release videos of rescuing seals every single day on their KZbin channel: Ocean Conservation Namibia. Check out their channel - you won't regret it!!

Humans are a violation of the environment. No other species on this planet devastating their home as violently as we do. I question my species. We add nothing by virtue. We just replace what we ruined. Thankfully, there are people of the environment that try to return balance, and I'm so grateful for their heart and noble work.

I am astonished that some people have given a thumbs down to such an amazing and worthwhile video, showing the plight of our marine life due to waste needlessly entering our oceans. Thankfully people like these exist around the world and dedicate their time and lives to trying to reverse, as best they can, as much damage as possible. Selfish, ignorant, lazy and greedy humans caused this needlessly, it needs to stop.

Oh my word... I'm new to motorcycling but not new to travelling, and that's my perspective watching you. All your videos are inspiring, some exceptionally so, and every now and again I find myself in total awe. This video is different. This one makes real the abstract issue of plastic in the ocean, which my four kids and I all care about -- conceptually. Now I care for real, and I'm going to start by making a donation to OCNamibia. Then I'm making my kids watch this video. Then... Thank you. I'm the 1489th commenter, so I don't expect you'll see this, but if you do, know that this video is the most important one to me so far.

I've seen almost all your videos since season 1, and what I notice is a beautiful, deliberate inclusion of social and environmental issues in the places you have been to. (e.g silver mining in Bolivia and lithium mining in Argentina (?) in season 2, Nelson Mandela , animal conservation in South Africa in season 5, and now this.) Yours is not just an adventure travel channel. This is a dimension in your videos that makes it really worth your viewers' while. Congratulations.

For some years I've watched most of the seal rescue videos from the Ocean Conservation site. It was only this year that I discovered 'Itchy Boots' and I went back to the beginning video and have been catching up on her adventures. So I was super happy to see this video of her working with Naude and the crew with the seal rescue. I don't recall if she was featured on one of their videos...I probably did see if it, if so, but just didn't know who she was at the time. I love that their paths crossed.

@david woods Sorry I don't agree.... Banning plastic is not the entire solution. BEHAVING OURSELVES CORRECTLY is the first priority. Lots of plastics can be recycled and others should be destroyed properly in appropriate facilities. We are just too lazy to pack it back after we packed it out for our diverse usages.

It’s hard to act against a plastic fishing net that got stuck at a reef and end up as a loss to the fishing vessel. These nets stays at the bottom of the sea capturing fish and mammals. Boats, well obviously not the boats but the sailors, still drops their waste in open sea - out of sight out of mind - and we, they, still drop waste out of the windows when driving their cars. We need to act, and act now.

The bad actions of a few % of many, cause so many problems. Thank you for videoing and sharing this Noraly. I live on an urban lake, where fishing is allowed. It’s a constant battle to stop these people from leaving hooks and line just lying around, because they’ve finished with it and can’t be bothered tidying up after themselves. It makes me so angry because kids and dogs can step on the hooks, and we have pelicans and cormorants who get tangled up. But, the perpetrators are so angry and badly behaved, it’s difficult to ask them to stop - they seem to believe they have some sort of “right” 😠

Most plastic in the seas does not fall from ships but finds it way from land to rivers and finally to the sea. Only 12% of all plastic is recycled, 35% is burned 19% ends in unknown places (probably the sea) and the rest is in landfills from where it sometimes makes it way to the sea...

There she is!! Dark!! Looks like Rembrandts Night Watchman ... spoooky ... what a classic mutual meeting of two adventurers ... the unsung hero's ... can't say enough good things on teams that save and preserve the wildlife.. what an out of the usual riding day. Interesting what the team of Ocean Conservative Namibia does ... just shocking how much garabge is in the ocean harming the wildlife ... hope many of your followers will click and support OCN. Thank you for changing your program sharing a day with the seal savers. Great photo of you laying on the beach, ... in your element. Ride careful, stay safe ...

What a great thing they are doing. As a US sailor, we don’t throw stuff over the side anymore. Sadly, that isn’t the case for a lot of the other flags of the world. God bless their work!

I fell in love with Namibia several years ago, I just adore the land and the people there, it's like a whole different world. I was even lucky enough to do a little sea kayaking at Walvis Bay where we were surrounded by hundreds of very nosey but friendly seals wondering who we were visiting their watery home. Who knows, if I'm very lucky I may get to do it again one day.

It must be the biggest delight of their lives when they are released from the capture and realize the pain and agony of the sea garbage is finally gone.

That was awesome to see Noraly, thank you. Endless thank you and Bravo to them for doing this incredible, hard work of love. ~Excellent wake up call to absolutely every human being on our planet = No matter who you are, no matter where you are - DO NOT LEAVE OR TOSS YOUR TRASH OUT ANYWHERE BUT IN TRASH CANS. Do not toss trash overboard. Do not leave trash on the beach, in the woods, on the streets, in the fields, at the lake, rivers, streams, parks and on and on. All trash is a danger to all critters of the lands, the seas, the skies, the waters everywhere. Please be responsible with your trash. ~~THANK YOU FOR AN EXCELLENT VIDEO - ALL OF YOU. My heart was so filled with love watching what these wonderful guys do and how they do it. Imagine the relief every seal feels once the horrid trash is removed from them. God bless you guys and all people out there who do such amazingly beautiful things for the voiceless. ❤

Unfortunately a lot of trash ends up on barges that cross the ocean, and some of it falls off those ships due to storms and wind and negligence... that's why even when you throw things away in the trash, you should cut it into smaller pieces and make sure there are no loops or rings of any kind. Cut them small enough that if they DO end up in the ocean, they won't be able to entangle an animal or be choked on.

@@Palitato - Much trash comes from the land = blown into streams, rivers, etc that ends up in the ocean, its not just directly illegally tossed into the sea.

@@Palitato Indeed, excellent point. Also in landfill dumps = endless dangers to all critters there also. It's all simply heartbreaking.

Awesome! It renews my dwindling faith in humanity to see people like this devoted to helping animals in crisis.

I’m originally from Namibia and have so been enjoying this part of your trip. I grew up in that southern region of Namibia and I find the landscapes so beautiful. Wonderful to share in the Ocean Conservation in today’s video.

These guys are doing a fantastic job, and there are so many more animals all over the world affected by the behaviour of the human species. It was great that you met up with them and shared the experience. I subbed to their channel. Very special episode.
