In this episode, I finally manage to cross the border into Senegal. But, with the previous video included, I rode 700 kilometers this day, with the river crossing at Bogué and then the hectic customs procedure at Rosso Border. I think I've never been more shattered after one day. BUT - I didn't have much choice. Due to no money (no ATMs or ways to get cash anywhere) and the customs procedure with the passe-avant, I just didn't have any choice but do it this way. As long as the plan works, it's all good in the end!

Noraly, I'm gobsmacked ... your incredible determination, resilience and stamina is next level. You're one hellova gutsy lady getting through this day ... +700 kms, heat, river crossing, borders, negotiations, language barriers, filming, feeding kids and everything else you contended with off camera. Throughout it all, you stay positive and keep smiling. Unbelievable characteristics under such trying circumstances. Respect! 🙏 Kudos to the sweet guy who took you across the river. He seemed so gentle, kind and concerned. Hope you had a fantastic, well deserved rest afterwards!

I am speechless. How you managed to navigate the border crossing in the midst of all of the Scammers in addition to the chaos that comes from the language barrier, trying to calculate the currency exchanges, figuring which import licenses you need not to mention insurance. And to top that all off….. trying to find a place to stay the night. I am in awe of your cool calm and collected manner and I am shaking my head in utter disbelief…..😊😊 Please be safe Noraly!!

My worry was more like, "This is how to cross from one country into the next???" Worse, it didn't seem as though she had a choice. It worked out, but this trip on a whole has been a dangerous one. I cringed every time she hit sand on a paved road. A regular street bike would not have been so forgiving. The heat and the load on the bike are another issue. That can shut you down and put you in all sorts of danger. I hope conditions improve, for safety's sake 🐫🐪🐐🦂🪰🦂🪳🪱🦠🦟🦎🦧🤗

I have watched for years. I believe this episode is one of the best - it is what viewers find so compelling - Noraly, alone, dealing with the language issues and individuals who may not have her bests at heart. It is very compelling. It actually made me a little uneasy, but Noraly showed her metal and made it through. Ending the video without confirming she was safe in her room was a great Hollywood cliff hanger maneuver. Big thumbs up!

I have travelled in Africa for more than 6 years in my Land Rover. Border crossing days were always a hard day. The fixers and money changers can test your patience, and corrupt officials also spice things up a bit. But, imagine if it was easy, then you wouldn't have interesting stories to tell...

Agreed Cedric. Sounds like you had quite an adventure for 6 years! Where did you go of I may ask? I also traveled overland through Africa in an old Land Rover series III. Back in 2001/2. Sadly only 11 months though. Was a truly exceptional experience! We opted for smaller border crossings where possible for these very reasons. Regardless, it was always stressful. Paperwork. Language barriers. Corruption. Money changers. Queues. Heat. Dust. No sanitation facilities. Etc. Luckily we never had a single anything stolen on the whole trip. And, never paid any bribes, not even $1. We just refused. Very trying at the time, but fun times in hindsight. Exceptional experience!

@@bridgetedwardsmentalhealth409 I travelled mostly in Sub-Saharan Africa, but went up to Egypt via Sudan. I travelled in a 1957 Series 1 Landy. The best years of my life!

Hello, I follow your journey since in morroco it's really nice to see that all! I am senegalese, I could advise you to pass the boarder from Saint Louis because I think there is a barrage where cars and all can pass. It should be safer for our dear alaska😂. But really happy to see that you join my country. Huuuge welcome to senegal, the country of teranga, (Teranga means hospitality😊)

All the men at the river crossing into Senegal wear a different kind of hat! Love the Chinese pointed hat. Noraly, the way the men of Senegal looked at you, you might as well have been a Martian with 3 heads! No woman drives there, especially a motor bike, and a white woman traveling alone, unheard of. You have more courage than many people I know. Kudos to you, young lady. Love your channel.

What a day, What a day! Was biting my nails when they load Alaska into a small boat. Glad it turned out well and good, but the bigger Senegal boarder, with mobster of fixers and scammers was crazy and scary...energy draining BUT happy you came out of it in one piece and gracefully done what you came for... Hats off to your bravery Noraly.

The river crossing was smoother than I expected. Perhaps because there was much discussion and every detail was covered. However the customs check was much more difficult than expected. Glad you made it through.

Well, that was action packed. I'd take the wild compared to the chaos and scammers of a bigger city. 12 hours of riding is in my territory, except mine isn't filled with a water crossing, paper work spread out by hundreds of kilometers, and language barriers. Good on you giving the kids your bread. The kindness will take you further. Ok, you can take a break now. Hang in there kiddo, and stay safe out there.

Noraly surely doesn’t have to add or create drama like some motorcycle videos do. The drama and chaos is everywhere. River crossing, WOW, a great video as usual.

What a day! People are amazing in so many ways. I have found that where travelers may be confused, local people will be there. Many are there to take your money. But there are also those who are there to help you avoid the others. You negotiated the border/river crossing and the customs chaos so well. "Welcome (Alaska) to Senegal!" after the customs success.

I appreciate all that you do and go through to make these videos for us Noraly. To so many amazing places that we would not probably ever see. Thank you very much. Those river crossings in small boats has got to be nerve racking. But you always do it with a positive attitude. I hope you find some time to get some real rest. Lots of love from Gene in Tennessee.
