I always thought it was filmed in MS. Never knew it was in Covington, GA learn something new everyday, it was a damn good tv series compared to today's standards💯👍🏾

In the early 90s I started watching in Heat of the Night with my ex-girlfriend's family which was my family it was a really big family event brings back a lot of great memories when I watch the show today I always thought it was really cool how Carol Connor could go from playing Archie Bunker then playing Sheriff Bill Gillespie rip mr. O'Connor and my ex the whole cast of the show are great actors and actresses my favorite character is Bubba Skinner✌😎

In 2003 my wife took a picture of me at the top of the steps at the "police station" that appears in every episode. We were driving from S.Carolina to Florida. RIP Carroll,Hugh, Howard and Lois.

I haven't ever watched this till this pandemic I've gotten hooked on it i watch 3 episode s every day. I love that they have alot of church and mention bible verses its far fetched that there was a murder every week in a small town. I live in a small town and we haven't had a murder here in 30 years

Yeah, murders don't happen in small towns often. We have them where I'm from every few years. Usually something domestic. My aunt was shot and killed there by a relative of ours. A cousin of mine was killed by her mom and boyfriend. Another cousin of mine was killed by her husband. Most of the killings there are done by family members. Crazy hillbillies. 😂

The Chief's Office Radio on his is actually a Midland CB Base. He rarely picked up the mic while in office. Usually the Chief would slide NB switch or PA switch to talk back to the officera

They also made one of the Friday the 13th movies on Covington and used the same building in front as the police station. I also believe the barn pictured above was also used in the filming of Friday the 13th. Be surprise how many movies were filmed there!

More research is needed, @2:26 the location of the filming was Conyers, GA not Covington. That is Main Street. I know this because I spent many years walking pass that building, right through the parking lot.

All of the buildings an the things you see on the credits which was used through the entire show are from Hammond Louisiana. I know this cause I live there. And I live there while they were filming it. The House they showed on the credits ,The one Virgil in Althea live in that you showed are 2 different homes. The one home they showed on the credits is right down the street from where I live in Hammond and it still looks the same, Not the house you showed. That is the house they lived in Covington,the one you showed but the one that they show in the credits is the 1 from Hammond. The church in the credits is in Hammond all the pictures of the downtown area Their driving in the police car are from Hammond the only thing that's not from hammond and is in the credits is the police headquarters that's in Covington in the bell tower is in Covington. Yeah that big beautiful house in the credits there making an arrest at night with the big columns that house is in Hammond Louisiana as well. They don't show the garage and it has an apartment over the top of it where my friend lived in rented from the lady that owns that house. And there has only been one family that's owned that house throughout the years, since it's been built.
