You best PACK A LUNCH if you decide to wet a line in these shark infested waters…
Surrounded by a massive chunk of public land, sits the gem of Clear Creek. If you are near Decorah, Iowa and are looking for a real adventure, this is your spot. A lot of streams in the Driftless Region have relatively easy access to the water. That could not be further from the case on this portion of Clear Creek. Miles of hardwood forest and wild grass prairie protect this wild trout stream from the average angler. Crystal clear water runs cold over fields of flowing water vegetation and house untold numbers of macro-invertebrates (Trout Food). Undercut banks, sunken logs, and deep bends make wonderful homes for big brown trout to lurk. I cannot express how much I enjoyed fishing such a wild stream like this. The occasional song from a meadow lark and splash of a muskrat were the only signs that I was not alone. The solitude of a stream like this holds me tight and beckons me to come back. Each bend holds a new chance at massive wild brown trout. But make no mistake.. This is NO cake walk..You have to bring every tool in your angling tool box to be able to hold one of these impressive fish. Don't let this scare you however, it is worth the work.
