Күн бұрын

Ever wonder how to fly fish a spring creek? Yeah me too.. I am NO expert.. BUT we just finished out a three part session on one of my favorite spring creeks and it was EPIC. I will sing the praises of Clear Creek until the cows come home! This is such a fun but challenging stream to fish! I am going to be going over a brief "bio" of this creek, my experience on this particular day, and finally what you might want to keep in mind when you are heading this way! I really hope these little tips and tricks can help you build up you fishy knowledge bank and be ready for those BIG BAD BROWN TROUT! But I am well aware that I am not a guide.. I am a GOON. Take everything I say with a grain of salt folks! I just hope you catch more and bigger fish than me when you give it a go for yourself!
Cant get enough? Y'all its POPPIN

Mike, I have to disagree with you. What makes your channel (among other things) is that you educate the viewer. From your stream descriptions, how you have your rod set up, to the flies that worked and sometimes didn't. Your joy of just being out there is infectious. Keep up the great work. As always, BRAVO ZULU

Great wrap up to an epic session of fishing. Love the new opening sequence. Thanks again Mike for allowing all of us a look behind the curtain at all the factors that go into the making of such a great session on the stream. You're such a great resource especially those just getting into the sport, and you're a great influence for all of us who have been in it for awhile regardless of our expertise. Keep up the great work and tight lines!!

Mike, Nice videos series of the Driftless, glad to see you promote catch photo and release of the brown trout. In your Clear creek series are you fishing Clear creek by Lansing or the other clear creek? Gery Welker

Quick question, newbie here. I went out to my local trout stream in Iowa and seen that the water was up really high and completely full of mud from the snow melt. How long does it take after the snow melt for the streams to return to normal? Also if a stream is spring fed will it still get washed out from the snow melt? Hopefully I can get out fishing soon possibly even to clear creek :)

I would say give it a few days and you should be good as gold! Get out soon though! Those April showers are right around the corner!

Quite the spot burn... Sending the traffic to clear creek so other streams open up more?
@allexkowalsky4168

Being transparent with where and how he fishes. Educating people new and old alike. I wish more of the industry was like this. Hiding every single spot and method isn't how we grow this community.

@@allexkowalsky4168 this goes a little bit further than that.. tagging a stream in Iowa is a little bit different than tagging the Madison. Share your methods and flies sure. But a specific 2 mile stretch of water is asking for the spot to be burned

@@Davidingle No its really not. Its public knowledge of the creek that's on public land. Its not some hidden gem that's never been fished before. You can literally google everything Mike just said about clear creek. And if the creek gets some traffic on the day I am headed out there? Oh well, there's SO MANY streams and rivers in Iowa that it's not even an issue, spot burn is non-existent. I can go one mile down the road and get on a completely new and isolated body of water. I'd gladly give everyone the exact GPS coordinates of every spot I have ever fished. And I hope they catch more and bigger fish than me. The theory of spot burn is a farce made up from old men and fly shops who were spiteful and didn't want to share their knowledge unless someone paid them. A good fisherman will catch fish regardless. Mike is giving people free information you would normally have to pay some random guide $300 for (use this cast here). And have you watched any videos on this channel? Mike has been fully transparent about everywhere he has fished. Guess what? No spot burn. Eventually he will have a video on every single stretch of every single stream in the state. In the end nothing will have changed and the streams will all be the same. But if we can get more people out fishing and being outside, that would be rad.

@@Davidingle You know what. That probably came off more aggressive than I intended and I apologize. It is just something I feel very strongly about that so many channels have to deal with. Especially with a place so incredibly abundant with great fishing like the Driftless. The point of Fly All Szn is to educate and grow the fly fishing community as well promote all the great fishing each state we go to has to offer. We all love fly fishing and we just want everyone, new and experienced, to share this amazing lifestyle. You are 100% entitled to your own opinion and I respect that. However, as a fellow angler, I just can't agree with that point of view. Anyways, I wish you the best of luck with your channel and keep up with the hard work. I love seeing new channels and I love seeing the community grow. I also invite you to join our discord and see what the Fly All Szn community is really all about. Anglers helping anglers, that's all we want.
