In alot of these late model mercs the chains are actually really good particularly the m156 type chains they dont really stretch or wear and the "wear" if its not stretched is actually good its just polished smooth and it wont wear the chain guides as much as a new chain so if its still the same length and no other issues id use the old chain everytime. Most problems are nearly always these bloody cam phasers or solenoids or sensors.

It’s funny how I just enjoy these videos watching these “surgeons “of cars do their things. I only wish we gave them the same respect cause I was lost at just how they knew where to put things when the stripped the car down
@shabbos-goy9407 Жыл бұрын
He's wrong about the chain timing. He's talking about the tensioner side. The other side is just cam sprocket to lower crank sprocket which is taught. When the head is skimmed the head drops a mm or two. Thus the top cam sprocket will move anti clockwise by a small amount. If it affects the running of the engine I don't know but skimming a head knocks out timing. Unless you can remove the cam sprocket and turn it to line it back up.. Happy to be corrected...
@ebos514 Жыл бұрын
I think you are right! But I wonder if this is only a problem with older cars with fixed cam sprockets. These "newer" cars have adjustable cam sprockets. Maybe these are just able to correct this?
@mark4lev Жыл бұрын
On the older cars like sierra cosworth, pinto, Evo, you could buy vernier cam pulleys to dial in perfect timing. The engine sounded very ‘tappety’ at 9:54 minutes. Fair play to rebuilding an engine of this complexity.
@shabbos-goy9407 Жыл бұрын
@@ebos514 60's and 70's Alfa Twin Cam's had adjustable sprockets. Lots of holes and you could find one that will line up the timing notch. I suspect this modern engine just has a bolt on variator. Anyway the error light went out so it seems to be OK.

I hear you have haters but the best way to silence them is to shoot them down gracefully, knocking them on your channel isn't always a good look, every you tuber has haters the best tubers let the end result speak for itself. Someone like me I haven't even been coming to your channel for long and don't even know about your haters so it looks a little unprofessional especially if the aim is to build sustainable subscriber base.
