The Vader twist was kept secret from pretty much everyone. The only ones who knew were George Lucas, James Earl Jones (Vader’s voice), and the director. They told Mark Hamill right before they filmmed the scene. For everyone else, the line they thought it was gonna be was “Obi-Wan killed your father.”

They tried having Han say “I love you too” multiple times, but it just wasn’t working. So Harrison Ford improvised what he thought Han would say, and it was perfect. I saw a watch along that had Sam Witwer, who is in some star wars stuff, and when the scene happened, he said that it’s a moment of growth for Han because he looks at her like “I know, and I’m so sorry. This is gonna be hardest on you.” He’s worried about her and how what’s about to happen to him will affect her. That blew my mind! I never thought of it that way.

That's how I always took that scene. Lots of people laugh and think Han is being arrogant, and maybe he is a tad, but I always took it the way you described it: Han just acknowledges it because both of them are awkward at revealing their feelings for each other because Han is a smuggler who could never hope to bag a princess and Leia probably would've never been allowed to date a bad boy like Han, had her parents any say in the matter.

Forgot when the Stormtroopers boarded Lea's ship in the first movie opening fight, did you? They had to squeeze trough a doorframe with 10 guys shooting at them and only 2 or 3 fell while the Strormtroopers shot nearly all of the guards!

What obi wan meant when he said he would become more powerfull than vader could possibly imagine, is that when you die you become one with the living force itself. Not so much that you gain more powers but that you basically become the force. At least that's how ive always seen it

If you watch again, Vader actually uses the force to guide Luke to one of the shafts. Watch his hand as he leans over to look after Luke falls. It’s one of those little things that’s easily missed.

the only way to destroy an at-at walker is to hit it in the neck. its the only spot with no armour, it needs to be flexible in order to move up, down, left, right. so if you can hit it in the neck you can destroy it.

About the stormtroopers aim. Remember, in the first movie, they planted a tracking device on the Falcon. They were supposed to escape, the troopers missed on purpose. Same here, the troopers had orders not to kill them, for the same reason. Obi Wan made a point at the start of the first movie about how "only imperial troops are this accurate". The missed shots are intentional. Remember too, the battle on Hoth, and on the blockade runner in the first movie, the troopers were much better shots against the regular rebel troops.

You mentioned the fight between Vader and Obi-Wan a few times... What you have to remember is that it was not supposed to be an epic duel, but rather a discussion between the two of them, the fighting wasn't really the main focus. Outside the context of the story however, they were still practicing with the effects and fight choreography, and they used Kendo and fencing as the influences, which were more about short flurries of action.

I’m a little late to the party but in the beginning of the film where Luke is taken out by the snow monster, the wampa, the scarring on his face is actually real! Mark Hamil was in a bad car accident before filming and they had to somehow come up with an idea to justify the scars on his face, thus the Wampa attack was born!

I'm showing my age here but I used to have the toy version of those imperial walkers. If I'm remembering where it was correctly, but there was a flap on the side so you could pull it down and reach inside to be able to reach the head controls. You could move the head up, down, side to side, and there was I button you could push to make these two clear blaster (they kinda looked like tusks) things light up, and move back and forth and make sounds as if they were actually firing.

Here, I think the most major change from the original has to be the reshoot of the scene with the Emperor. It was weird, to say the least. It was still a cloaked figure, but the face was apparently done by a woman in some kind of monkey mask. The voice was done by Clive Revill. After Return of the Jedi, Ian McDiarmid had become so associated with the role that it made sense to reshoot the scene with him. Curiously, the credits still list Clive Revill, even though nothing of him remains. Also, it was only in the reshoot they used Anakin's first name. On first viewing, we didn't know the full name of Luke's father until Return of the Jedi. Another change was that Cloud City got a whole lot more windows. Where we originally mostly saw people moving in enclosed hallways, the Special Edition made the place look so much more open. On the whole, Empire is the one movie where I think I can agree with all the changes.

Vader is just toying with Luke during their duel. Vader was trying to get Luke to use his anger (the dark side) to fight him (Vader). That is until Luke lands a lucky hit on Vader, then Vader cuts Luke's hand off less than 10 seconds later.

_The Alliance_ does not exist until _Return Of The Jedi_ . In _A New Hope_ and _Empire Strikes Back_ they are still the *rebellion* .

Empire is set approximately 3 years after A New Hope, plus the fight scene between Obi Wan and Vader is not as good because Alec Guinness was getting on in years and just couldn't physically do do a fast fight plus the props they used as lightsabers for the fights would break if they hit together so they couldn't actually hit them together, for Empire they had improved the props so they could
