There was a local fast food non-franchise place without a drive-thru where I grew up called Beef Burger. For their kid meals, you got to go to the toy wall and pick your toy. They had actual real toys. Hula hoops were on the wall. You could get a Hula hoop! Sadly, COVID ended that business. Being shut down that long, the owner just decided to end it. Also, the owner won the lottery 3 times in 2 years. He's a legend. Over $1 million worth of winnings in 2 years.

@beckyowens25862 жыл бұрын
I work at McD so allow me to expert for a second. 1, They ran out of Sonic toys and were forced to use the store's stash of surplus toys. 2, At least once a year Mcd "Cleans House" on surplus toys and there's about 2 weeks to a month where stores are directed to use overstock before a new run of themed toys is implemented. Toys can clog up a storage area. 3, The toy itself is part of a Disney themed train set. It should connect to 10 or so similar toys. 4, If you're one of those people who MUST HAVE every single toy of a run, we don't like you. You're automatically a butthole. There are very few exceptions where we'll willingly hold toys for you if you request it and usually we'll only do it for 2 or 3 people. Generally we'll do it if you're a super nice "regular" who's not too pushy about it. You probably will have to pay for them. You're supposed to, but honestly it depends on who you're dealing with. You could get a "connection", like a family member/family friend who works in the store to grab them for you, but calling the store or talking to a manager to hold them for you for a few days, we do not do it for everyone. If you're a turd about it, we'll find an excuse to not do it at all. We have hundreds of people to wait on and sending someone "off the floor" to look for a toy that may or may not even be in the store, becomes a problem.
@DefinitelyNotAnAlien2 жыл бұрын
😁 I also used to work at McDonalds (Crew Trainer for 2 and a half years), and when I saw the toy Matt got, I immediately thought "surplus toy". 😅 By the way, I was the "family connection". My niece (who was 4 to 5 at the time) liked me a lot, because every time she visited, I would pull out the big box stuffed full McDonalds toys (had a lot of completed runs), and would tell her to pick one to play with for the day and take home. 😐 As for people asking for specific toys, I normally didn't mind, and we were never requested to hold anything (probably because it was a small town next to a highway, so the majority of our customers were travelers). However, there was one time that I remember getting really annoyed, which was when we were doing Beanie Babies and EVERYBODY wanted the freakin' snowman, which we hadn't even gotten yet. Being petty and wanting some form of revenge, once we did get the shipment, I went ahead and bought a snowman for myself. To this day, I still have him sitting there on my deskshelf, and everytime I look at him, I chuckle like a madwoman. 😶 As for the BK nuggets, my manager once said that she wouldn't even feed them to her dog.

I may have to hand in my southern card for this, but when I'm traveling Culver's kid's meal is the bomb (when you get the burger). A normal sized burger, an actual small size of cheese curds/ a.k.a fried cheese (not a shot size), and a coupon you can redeem immediately for ice cream, all in a fun bag. Now there's no toy, but like Matt said in Chick-fil-A's case, who wouldn't opt for the ice cream over a bad toy/book?

2 things, 1. This is the best "Bless Your Rank," yet! Matt's jokes had me rolling, nonstop for the whole video! 🤣🤣🤣 I agree with Matt; Burger King used to be really good. I loved the BK Kids' Club comics! It is really sad that so many fast food restaurants have lowered their standards in the quality of the food for the kid's meals. 🤔 Then again, this is fast food that we are talking about, so.... Fun Story: Jack-in-the-Box used to be one of our favorites growing up. They used to have kid's meals. My brother loved it so much that he wanted Jack to come to our house for his 5th birthday. He wrote a letter to Jack and my mom sent it off. Jack, being a cool guy, responded to my brother saying that he was sorry he couldn't make it to the party. But he sent a bunch of Jack toys, a signed birthday card and some gift certificates for free food! My brother was so happy! Those were the good ol' days (of the 90's, haha) when restaurants cared about customers! Anyway, I was most surprised that Matt put WENDY'S in second place!! Did not see that ranking so high on the list! This just proves that, yes, Matt is a big kid and, like most kids, he will pick a favorite because of how much he likes the toy! 🤣🤣🤣

SO glad to know that it's not just my local McDonald's that gives toys that don't match the advertised theme. My kids just got Happy Meals that were supposed to have a Super Mario toy and came with a Space Jam toy!!

I dont know if its just because I was a kid back then with no standards, but somewhere in like 2009-2012 (couldn't remember the exact year), the Burger King kids meal was so good. like they came in this little flat box that had a crown attached to it that you can take off and wear, and the nuggets were actually really good- like i'm talking about like mcdonalds nuggets

I remember one summer (at least 15 years ago when I was a kid) they had all kinds of different plush tot toys. Me and my sister would always want to go there to collect them all.

Culver’s has a great kids meal but no toy. Instead you get a coupon for a cup of chocolate or vanilla custard and one topping like butterfinger, sprinkles, cookie dough, reeese’s or whatever. It’s comes with milk as the drink but you can substitute any drink like sweet tea. It’s a decent meal for an adult and maybe $7 or so.

When Matt stated that the USA did not have kings or queens I had to state: what about high school Prom King and Queens, Miss America, Miss USA, Madi Gras King, etc.

A&W kids meals are the best. Bag has all sorts of puzzles and games and you get a toy and a huge handful if candy. I order them as an adult because the burger is decent size and the fries are a normal small. A&W is the way to go!!

The child who gets the kids meal Matt just had from Burger King is going to probably cry at the sight of the “nuggets”. And will learn how to go demand new ones from that BK manager. Because whoever bought the meal should be doing that!

The Burger King nuggets had stuck together during frying and did not cook properly.

@@SamanthaGCox - yes, I figured. My kids are grown and I’ve dealt with far worse kid meals! Matt’s commentary as a comedic adult does make you wonder how a child would react though. And I would ask for new nuggets if they looked like this. 🤷🏼♀️

It's sad what has happened to burger King. My first job when I was 16 was BK way back in 95 and back the food was delicious, we stayed so busy we never had less then 10-12 people on crew at a time, and didn't have those weird king Jr. Meals. Now the food is terrible, you're lucky if there is 2 people working, the kids meals are a joke, and all but 2 of ours have gone out of business.

The only time I got a kids meal from Arbys is when they had the shovel knight toys. I was so self conscious about it that I would order two adult meals and a kids meal at the same time in the drive thru as if I was taking it home to the family. XD

I remember working at Chick-fil-A for three years, and I get so bad putting books inside kids meal bags in the drive thru. I knew those kids didn’t want that garbage 😂

I'd have preferred books with a kid's meal when I was a kid - just at a higher reading level. Something like the text of the Constitution or about sports. Do you remember those McDonald's History of the Super Bowl magazines? Something like those. McDonald's gave them away with something. I read the crap out of those things.
@MrRkaperak2 жыл бұрын
@@cisium1184 I was the unfortunate kid who had a leave 13 reading score in like 4th grade. So i was put into advanced classes, summer reading programs, made to read US Flag code while kids my age were reading captain underpants and Harry Potter. The last thing I wanted as a surprise was something else to read 😂😂
